Bar,

He is 100% correct! Scope does not matter .......for ALPA that is. Think about it, DAL outsources 2000 Pilot jobs to DCI, well that must suck for ALPA to lose 2000 union members. Oh thats right, I forgot, only the mainline jobs are outsourced, the union retains members since they are ALPA.

Somehow I can't see the longshoreman at Long Beach losing their jobs to newbies doing it for 50% pay-rates at competing companies - all while being in the same union.

3) Quietly replace mainline city-pairs with large RJs, directly outsourcing mainline jobs.

4) Total RJ ASM and hulls still lower, but now mainline pilots now effectively outsourced.

5) Repeat

6) Profit!

Heyas, Nu!

Can you show your math on this? This newfangled science that you're using has me confused!

I thought the forum logic was if we didn't have RJ's we'd have to fly mainline everywhere...

Again, help me with the math problem. Why would losing 2000 mainline paid pilots (twice the dues in your example) be better for the union in the long run?

Hey Fellas',
Sorry, but I honestly cannot remember. If we did acquire some new 777s, would there be fences for them. As a north guy, I can't help but day-dream. Thanks.

They'll be fenced unless the company buys them specifically to replace fenced north-side jets. Either way, someone will file a law-suit over it, of course.

Slow,

You are correct - it is most certainly not better. The sad part is that, it is reality.

That's why 2011s slogan will be "Why can't we ALL just get along?"

I never understood that. With a prop, any passenger can look out the window and see the engines are running just fine. With a jet, how can they be sure?
