Someone explained to me btw why CAL can fly a 752, 753, 762 and 764 as one category and its because their aircraft are newer and the PFDs have tapes. But I don't think UAL's have the tapes. Not sure, maybe someone knows?

But if you have to seperate the categories and you're not a fan of the airplane anyways and you're about to have a fleet full of 777s... why not sell that odd ball aircraft to your competitor who also happens to be the only airline who operates the type other than you?

Or should we get as many 777s as we can given its capabilities? I mean we seem to fly 763s to where others fly 777s.

I wonder if ESPN is going to have to ask the coaches to take some extra timeouts at the end to get their tv timeouts in?

I'm with ya:

Now think about it. A C-130J-30. You board people into a pressurized pallet, you drive it to remote parking where the airplane awaits. You load it on. Off you go. When you come back to the hub they just roll off the current pallet and load the next, therein allowing 10 minute turns at the hub. Don't even shut down, just go, refuel in the air. When someone asks did you get your WDR you're response is "if you were able to close the door then I don't need a WDR."

I can't post attachments on here, I guess only soft-porn and photos of Brett Pharvre (sp?) are allowed. Anyway, here is one Delta new hire airplane choice of 1970... Bring your Harley, ride it up the ramp and enjoy the sightseeing below the rim of the Grand Canyon. All True.

Post it if ya can.

Clamp edit:

fixed it for you: right click, go to properties and copy and paste the address with .jpg or whatever instead of the standard URL. And here it is (can't help but laugh at the feathered prop...):

The best part about the C-130 evidently, from that picture, is when you shut down you could say feather 1 and 3 this time, no wait, 2 and 4, or just 3, or 2... just 2.

Yes, by buying another airline you are buying preexisting airframes and leases. We do not want to do what AMR is doing and buy a fleet a spanking new 73N's that in reality can and probably will fly to 2050. We want something we can dump in the next 15-20 years. Anything used in the NB market that compliments what we have fits in to that.

You're on the right track. In relative technological terms, the 737 is nearing the end of its competitive life cycle. Advancements in the next generation engine are significant and right around the corner. These advancements are significant enough to provide an operator a distinct advantage over a competitor. This advantage currently doesn't exist, especially when one blends in cost of capital of the new vs. pre-owned asset.
As long as you can provide a comparable cabin experience, the average passenger doesn't care what the plane looks like when booking a ticket.
As a launch customer, one can historically expect a "b i t c h i n' deal."

No, Delta should buy no new airplanes until the manufacturers make a decision to re-engine their product lines. For example, a geared turbo fan on a 747 would bring its CASM in line with that of a current 777, perhaps even better.

Richt = Fulmer..... Phil had the highest winning percentage of any active coach until around 2005.. or something like that. It is a truly "what have you done for me lately" business. Heck.. look at this: Home - FireCoachMeyer.com

You might want to check out Delta's current 747 vs 777 CASM.
