I liked the answers in regards to SWA in ATL. The reporter that asked what he meant about SWA and business class looked pretty stupid.

SWA doesn't really have room to grow, which is why they bought AT. They're more handcuffed then you think. Higher crew costs getting higher with the merger, expenses related to the merger, less profitable hedges are all things that will prevent SWA from expanding rapidly.

SWA did not buy AAI for ATL, they bough them for NYC access. When they did not get DAL to lie down and divest slots to them, they have to come up with Plan B. AAI was it. ATL is a nice nugget but it will not offer the extra profit that many think.

Exactly. If anything, SWA will push AT customers our way. Why? Because AT offered 1st class & free XM satellite radio. SWA will remove a product that many like.

Anyone think hiring 1000 FAs means anything for near term pilot hiring?

I beleive they announced the hiring of 1000 after 420 something accepted recall. I could be wrong though.
If they up the block hrs anymore yes, we will need lots o bodies in the front offices.

Delta has received nearly 85,000 applications from prospective flight attendants since the carrier announced in August that it would be hiring for that job, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. In a message to employees last week, Delta CEO Richard Anderson says that all of the attendants on voluntary furlough have had a chance to start working again.
He expects about 425 of them to start working in 2011. The carrier had been hoping to fill about 1,000 positions, meaning "that still leaves a few hundred positions to fill," the Journal-Constitution quotes Anderson as saying.
