Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Doubt it. While my expectations for LM are indeed low (based on track record)... I don't take my eyes off the ball. What I expect out of my union has not changed. If he solves the conflict of interest at National, and creates a real focus on restoring this profession, I'll eat my hat. (Well maybe not, because then I wouldn't have a hat and would be in violation of the FOM.) But if he does that, it will be 180 degrees out of phase with everything he did as our MEC Chairman and all the groundwork he laid to get himself elected. I'm not holding my breath (or my DPA card).
I know that 88. Even if one is wildly successful that is a monumental task in one term. Progress should be measured in increments. I look for progress.
Guys go to the C44 website and read their weekly update. I think many will be impressed with what Resolutions they (The MEC Council) approved at the meeting preceding the BOD meeting.
Great work guys!
Great work guys!
Yes, but the SIZE of the increments is going to be extremely important. If those increments are similar to what we saw with LM as our MEC Chairman, then we will not achieve restoration in my lifetime and probably not in yours. I hope you don't just look for progress of any amount. It's important to set your objective and measure your progress against that. Just saying you will "look for progress" isn't enough when you are digging out of a 50% hole. You must define your objective first. And if your objective is restoration, that "progress" is going to have to come in very large increments. There is no way around the math.
You state the new policy of ALPA is to truly represent all pilot groups. In the course of that representation, ALPA will never allow one group to gain another's flying. If that is attempted by management in any direction, the full resources of ALPA and the MCF will be brought to bear up to and including a strike.
You simply have to state it...then do it. Here's the problem, LM doesn't believe in this. He believes it's just business when one union's flying goes to another unionized group. That's against all that trade unionism has ever been about. Problem is, LM disagrees.

ATLANTA GA, Aug 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by Captain ### ### Delta Master Executive Council, Air Line Pilots Association, International:
"Today, we stand with the pilots of United Airlines and Continental Airlines announcement that they intend to end outsourcing of their flying to regional partners following their planned merger.
We believe, as do the pilots of United and Continental, that the time is right to correct the wrongs of the past when it comes to outsourcing. We agree that because of our responsibility to our passengers and our company that we must remind management and our investors and creditors that the business of an airline is to fly – not to outsource flying to the lowest bidder or to merely act as a ticket agent.
We believe that all outsourced flying should end for the safety of our passengers and the financial health of our companies. As the pilots of Continental and United Airlines have stated, no issue carries more weight than scope and the cessation of outsourcing.
Thank you."

We should have voted the BK contract down and called everyone's bluff. That's how I voted. I called management's bluff and the BK judge's bluff and wanted to see the judge try to force us to work without a contract, while we went through the RLA to eventually strike. The contract asked for too much in my opinion.
