In that case, we're even. As long as we can all share the blame, we can work togethe to fix this. (I did not read all the old posts and replies...my mistake...I should spent more time in the crackpipe )

I don't know that the second part of your post actually means anything, but the first is interestingly weird. So the plan was, in effect, to allow for farm teams, build the stadiums, but hope the young players wouldn't try their hand at all and simply hold out for million-dollar contracts?

If your strategy relies on hoping other people will do your hard work, and it requires defying the laws of economics, then you've got no strategy.

Those guys/gals took that job at wages that were low, even for regional pilots, with the understanding that there was a flow through to NWA. This opportunity was given to them by NWA pilots by a aprox. 64% margin.

If anything, it was the most sure or best way for them to get to the majors. I'm sure that more than 1 in 6 of them will be flying for Delta one day. (Better odds than roulette.)

So, in my opinion, not only did we put the carrot on the stick, we helped insure they would one day be the rabbit. How we can fault anyone for taking such a good deal, I'm not sure of.

The one thing that can't be disagreed with though is that if it wasn't for us, they wouldn't be there. That I am 100% sure of.
Youre exactly right... didnt mean to leeave that part out!

Carl, you are way outta line. Your starting to sound like General Lee on that other web board. How can anyone respect your opinion when you throw so much trash on the web.

If you had ever been a corporate pilot you'd know that not all jobs are the same. If you had ever been a night freight pilot you'd know that those jobs come in a variety as well. At your old age you should also know that the major airlines like two things, military and 121 time. We had ONE corporate pilot in my class.

Before I started flying I did drywall and spray texturing. The only link to aviation I had was my grandfather. He was a passenger in a Bonanza and was killed when some dumba$$ vfr pilot flew into some bad weather in the Canadian Rockies. I relied on the experience of senior pilots to tell me how to get a career in aviation. When my family traveled I asked guys like you how to be one of them. I did what they said. Thank God I didn't listen to you or I'd still be waiting for those darn RJ pilots to give the flying back to the majors.

I built time as a cfi, then survived a night freight gig. Thought I hit gold when I found a job flying a corporate jet. Found out the boss was a crook and luckily got a job at a 121 regional carrier that was getting brand new turboprops. Faa and FBI got involved and the old boss man is getting butt plugged by his cellmate. By this time I had 2500 hours of good hard night ifr flying in the pacific northwest and Canada's west coast. Upgrade was 15 months, lucky me!!! My military buds asked if I could help them get a job at my regional. They wanted 121 time as well. We all, civilian and military, thought some 121 time mixed in with our other backgrounds would help when the majors started hiring. 9-11 hit and I got stuck at a regional. Hiring stopped remember? All these turboprop pilots now became the RJ pilots you so love to hate. Delta came out of bankruptcy and I now had 9000 hours. Apparently Delta liked what they saw on my resume.

You try to pin the blame on RJ pilots, well guess what, your wrong. Just what the hell to you think these guys and gals are gonna fly? You, yes you Carl, gave away the flying. You are to blame. You were an Alpa volunteer and you've been a part of Alpa for 30 years. Alpa pilots caved on scope. At least the APA pilots tried to make a case to keep the flying in house.

You've really hit a nerve with me today. Most know I'm just a lerker and occasionally post a joke or pic. You come on here claiming to be gods gift to aviation and post a bunch of crap. Well, I'm telling you your wrong. Once again Carl, you are wrong. Turn up your miracle ear so you can hear this again. Your wrong Carl.

Phew....I hear the ice machine....wifey is downstairs making a cocktail.....time to have a cold one with the hot blond and hit the hot tub!!!

Pineapple,

It's your fault, too.

Now maybe we can fit it?

Whatever you do, don't consider running from the cops in Africa:

Unrelated, but too good not to share.

No...not even close to something that well planned. This was very simple. Airline management were sick of paying pilots what they were paying them. Every time they tried to reduce it, pilots threatened some kind of labor action. Management finally figured out a way. Get people to cave in on scope language and outsource the flying to pilots who will do the job for far, far less. After all, pilots are pilots...there will always be pilots willing to work for next to nothing...right? The RJ guys proved the latter to be correct, we major guys proved to be short sighted idiots for agreeing.

Disturbingly simple actually.

If you want to continue this "chicken or the egg" argument, if you hadn't sold out on scope then there wouldn't be an RJ guy there to work for peanuts, would there. Regional managements had to get the contracts first, before they knew how many pilots to hire. For those contracts to exist, mainline pilots had to cave on scope...............

If I follow your logic then you actually thought that it was ok to cave on scope because you didn't think anyone would fly the airplanes for those wages?

Default Bed is Made.

Well gentlemen, the bed is made(scope) and we made it. Does not matter Who tucked in the sheets or put the pillowcase on the pillow, the fact is the bed is made. It is lumpy, old, smelly, and doesn't lend itself to a good nights sleep. New sheets might help, but it is time for a whole new mattress. That's what we gotta figure out, what kind of mattress to get so we can get a good nights sleep. Also we need some new sheets to go along with that new mattress and box spring. Just who do we pick to get that new mattress for us now that Moak is departing. I see that we have 2 options, 1. Lay here in this lumpy bed and complain about who made it. or 2. Figure out a way to get a new bed with nice new sheets. Sooner or later the company will need something really bad. It always comes around and that is when we go mattress shopping but we really need the right guys shopping for us. Don't forget a couple of new feather pillows to boot.
