Ah you guys have such short memories.

Here is the usual response at road shows when memrat is imminent and the new contract has ****ty scope language.

"Don't vote the entire contract up or down on a single issue, you have to look at the contract and evaluate it as a whole."

Scope gets labelled as a "single issue" that is not important enough to vote down the rest of the contract.

I have no problem voting NO on a contract with ****ty scope, but I've been on both the inside and outside of the MEC during negotiations. Pilots need to ignore the usual BS during roadshows and vote NO if they don't like their single issue. Scope has been number one on my list for almost 2 decades.

P.S. Can we hire the author of the Negotation videos as our Negotiating Chairman?

Err... George Jones...or the Grateful Dead (or Dave Edmunds for that matter)....

George Jones wrote it. Sawyer Brown is about the 10th band to cover it...

Sorry, back to the election madness.....

1995. Apologies if I've been beaten to the answer, but I had to mow the grass put the lawn to bed for the season today.... ergo, I'm now 20 pages behind. What's all this about an election??

Thats for sure. The rest of the contract sure doesn't mean much if you scope yourself out of a job.

Or join the military. Supposedly we're cool with that as well these days. You can even get base housing. Not to mention we welcome your transgendered and hermaphodite types. We've become Denmark....not that anything's wrong with Denmark.

No. They're not. RJ Captains pushing 40 are now more the rule than the exception. They have families. They have kids they need to provide for. They will fight.... vigorously... against any attempt to limit their growth at the regional airline level. Additionally, they will fight.... vigorously.... to take as much of your flying as they can get. For the most part, they cannot afford to (or simply do not want to) start over... Do not underestimate this group. They are very large and are dangerously close to having a majority vote in ALPA national. To write them off as misguided kids is foolish. Make no mistake... the RJ lifers very much have the ear of ALPA national.

(Sorry if Im repeating someone else. I'm several pages behind)
