I got the impression that guys have already been staying beyond 60 at a higher rate than anybody anticipated.
They thought more NWA pilots that still have their defined benefit would leave. They haven't.
Partially because the retiree medical benefits suck compared to the fNW contract. Fix it and see how many retire earlier than under the present circumstances...

Right on the money.
Cost of medical care is a huge factor in that decision.

Heyas,

Since we are talking about a potential AK merger, I'd like to hear how the NWA merger was sold to the fDAL guys.

On the fNWA side, we didn't get a whole lot of information, of than "yea, it's happening, we're going to do our best".

West of the Mississippi? There is nothing west of the Mississippi.

I don't know, something tells me that while that might play in to it, it wouldn't increase the rate of early retirements.

Well, after the Alaska merger we might not need to have new hires coming in the door.

CE is right. It's huge. If over over 60 guys had the fNWA plan, they'd be working for free right now,

As it stands, the DAL plan costs a huge amount of coin....enough to flip it into the negative side.

Delta to pilots: You'll get Asia, DTW/MSP/SEA/MEM, 747s, lots of Airbuses, DC9s that fit the 100 seat market and the overall sexiness of the pilot group will increase 3 fold.

HA! I can't remember actually, I think it was all about a stronger and improved network.

Well, while I can't argue with the last point, I think y'all got screwed on the 100 seater issue.

Default MOTO here:

There is only 8 mandatory in 2011.

Question: Is AK a more senior, junior or average pilot group?
