Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Just trying to see why they may have gotten such an odd call given its all contract. They didn't want off the 744, they were kicked off and then they got to go back in short order, thats not their (the pilots) problem.

Interesting tidbit I just heard about.....
I have a friend that was displaced from the 744 to the 7ER on the Jan AE. She was converted in early summer and is now flying as a 7ER B. On the latest AE she was reinstated to the 744.
Now this is where it gets interesting..... She was contacted by her CP and asked/advised to remain on the ER since Delta had invested "all the money and time" getting her qualified! That seems pretty low to have a CP lean on someone because they were displaced, qualified on a different aircraft but now wish to return to displaced position.
Anyone heard of this happening before?

40 737s were ordered for an unidentified customer evidently.

In fact once I flew with a LCA who told me that it is worth it to DAL to retrain you when you do just one trip (4 day, I presume). I.e. the training is paid for with one trip because DAL's contract training bringing money in.
Another guy in the training center told me that at DAL pilot training is free because of contract training.

Not free but being paid for either way. It is may times cheaper to have a line pilot in both seats versus a PCP playing FO or CA. We own the sims to that is moot.
One thing I can think of involves a little dot connection.
Might now want someone who is junior to go to training only to be knocked off once again on the next bid when all or part of the category is moved. That makes sense to me.

Then convert her and don't train her. IOW pay her to stay on the -er. Then when she gets displaced next bid, when her number comes up, she loses pay protection.
4-5 years ago, 7er paid more than 744 does today, it is really not that big of a deal.
