Yeah....never trust him to make the largest, most seamless airline merger in history happen. Yeah, never trust him to manage the world's largest airline through the nation's worst economy in 70 years without furloughing any pilots. Yeah, what a douche!

Some say Newk’s extraordinary confidence began at birth, when he congratulated the Doctor on a perfect delivery.
In JR High, while abroad, he explained how jelly fish stings could be neutralized with vinegar – in perfect Italian.
In high school, he used his knowledge of storm cells and tornadoes and saved the Newbergh Prep cheerleading squad after he explained they’d be safe in a low lying depression.
After high school, he applied to Princeton, for the position of Dean.
On a whim, he applied to Northwest Airlines, to fly the 747, they instead offered the DC-9, the only real man’s machine on property capable of containing his energy and attention.
For Newk, he understood that with knowledge comes confidence.

Do you think if I donate my old 8086 machine then the bids might get done earlier?
For all you young folk (ACL) an 8086 was a computer chip whose first generation was derived to run a drill press. You may know it's younger offspring as the Gazillion Core Intel. I think I could fly the bid request to Japan on a 12 day trip, leave them with an elderly Japanese lady with an abacus, fly back with the results, faster than Delta's super "Tiger Direct" clearance compute used to process these bids.

A surplus is a displacement. SLC 767 is being surplussed and they are entitling the SLC 7ER. In a effect a net change of zero.
They can opt to surplus positions like they did two and three bids ago without shutting a category down. In effect reducing staffing in a jet where you end up with displacements off a seat.
The company can add more seats on an AE than are on the bid. They cannot displace more though.
I do beleive that the guidance going forward for our economy is mixed. There is a possible of some softening demand, but if that does not occur they will need bodies.
I say wait and see what the delay is for.
