Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
#4661
I've posted this a couple of times on here. I saw VP of Ops Capt. Steve Dickson give a speech on the last AE in Atlanta. One of the questions he fielded was when do they think they will achieve SOC. In his own words ... and me paraphrasing. He said there are still numerous technical challenges yet to be ironed out and they are projecting early 2010. However, they are worried that having a mass move of pilots of airplanes before the summer schedule wouldn't be smart. So, it would most probably be delayed until after the summer push. Fall 2010.

The forecasted numbers were a lot worse. This kind of drop off has been accounted for. In essence there were no surprises for last month. Well at least on the FDL side. FNWA numbers were not quite as good.

Hey could you give us the cliff version of how SOC will effect the seat scope trigger. I know now that they have to furlough to TBKANE before it takes effect, but I don't understand how it changes with SOC. Don't they still have to furlough back to TBKANE to be forced to pull seats?

No read the JPWA. It now includes all of the FNWA folks that were hired to Sept of 2001. In essence it means that a lot of new hires are slotted in with these guys meaning that after SOC they would need to furlough FNWA guys to get to a bunch of FDAL guys. I think there are about 400 on the bottom of the list that do not have a 2001 or earlier hire below them.
That means that unless you are on the bottom the scope seat trigger will in theory protect you a little more after SOC.
Now our union could vote that away, but from what I am hearing that is not in their plans at all.

So if I read this right, they would now only have to furlough back to ujhazy #11938 to trigger the seat reduction. So basically they can furlough around 480 guys without triggering the reduction instead of getting to the infamous tbkane. So ujhazy kinda takes the spot light from tbkane doesn't he.

Of course, but it is always good to read it too. I have learned a few good things in there as well.
Make sure you mark down that you want a paper version of the JPWA that way you can have it in your flt kit. That is what I do. I get the electronic version for DALPA.
