I know that at my previous company when a MEL was added or deleted we needed to get approval an annotate it on the flight release. No so here. We get approval, but it is not on the copy that goes out the door. I guess it is just different. Seems to work though.
When it comes the the actual dispatch release ONLY the following MUST be included:

Sec. 121.687 - Dispatch release: Flag and domestic operations.
(a) The dispatch release may be in any form but must contain at least the following information concerning each flight:
(1) Identification number of the aircraft.
(2) Trip number.
(3) Departure airport, intermediate stops, destination airports, and alternate airports.
(4) A statement of the type of operation (e.g., IFR, VFR).
(5) Minimum fuel supply.
(b) The dispatch release must contain, or have attached to it, weather reports, available weather forecasts, or a combination thereof, for the destination airport, intermediate stops, and alternate airports, that are the latest available at the time the release is signed by the pilot in command and dispatcher. It may include any additional available weather reports or forecasts that the pilot in command or the aircraft dispatcher considers necessary or desirable.

Everything else that we consider to be part of the "release" is just extra stuff added by the company. Now, that extra stuff - like MEL's - may be required by the FOM but its not part of the FAR required release data. This explains why there is such differences from company to company.

So the issue will be ignored until it's needed? I agree that furloughs aren't planned now and a drastic event would be required for them, but unexpected things happen. I just hope our MEC is prepared. JMO.

Same here. Most are great dudes and have paid many dues in the years gone by. I am very glad to finally see a flow through work as promised. Th one at American was a colossal failure.

And to think you could have made this a better place to work by taking the best of both worlds. Good on you for sticking to your rusty outdated guns.

It's becoming perfectly clear why I have to set my watch back fifty years when I come to the South. "we've always done it this way, why change now".

Johnso;
The triggers and exceptions are still in the PWA. Nothing has changed on our side. NOTHING. If they opt to furlough and or not honor the flow down, the triggers are met. Same as it was yesterday, same as it will be tomorrow.

My point was, why sit there and try to cancel a part of the PWA, give leverage to the pilot group, and press this issue when there is no need? (No plans of furlough or flow down?)

We are not talking about furloughs and we are hiring. In a few years we will hit the retirement window that will not stop until around 2031. At that time, I would be very surprised if CPS was still an airline. Heck those jets may not even be flying at that time.

True, but sometimes POI's want other items on the flight release. This is not the case at our CMO. Like I have said, what we have works fine. If there is an issue and you want documentation, take everything with you.

If you are asking if the MEC will defend your contract, the answer is yes.

Now if the company offered something of value to sunset the flow down we would have to weigh it given what I posted above.

I wonder what's going on with the flow DOWN? Hmmmmmmmmm.............

That is a very agreeable solution to me to the flow up. I would assume that the flown down remains as is until I hear something different.

You hear that Nu? You don't always have to be the angry pessimist.
