Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Look at us.
All this discussion and attention to single engine taxi, configuring late for landing and operating more efficiently and making more money for the company, etc. etc.
Meanwhile we happily slave away under bankruptcy imposed wage rates with nary a complaint.
Our loyalty to the group and determination to complete the mission is truly admirable.
I got four words:
Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory.

That one kind of struck a nerve with me. I absolutely am NOT happily slaving away under BK wages. I will continue to speak against this injustice and advocate that we recognize it for what it is and do everything possible to rectify it.
But I do still very much enjoy this job... and I very much enjoy going to work. I consider operating efficiently part of being a professional aviator. They can't take that away from me! But it doesn't mean I'm happy with BK wages at a company that is most definitely NOT in BK. And it doesn't mean I appreciate being taken advantage of like that.

I agree, start with bringing the 9, 88 and 90 into 1 pay rate... wait, I take that back because are we going to base on seats or what the aircraft does? I mean the 88 and 320 should be the same if its on seats, but its not. The 90 and 738 should be the same now as 160 seates. The 757 has 10 varieties of seating configurations.
So what 3-4 tiers should there be? NB? WB? Range? INTL/DOM?
Interested to see what people think.

First bring the DC-9 (will now be a 125 seater with the parking of the 30's and 40's,) MD-88, MD-90, 320/319, 737 700/800, all into one tier based on the current 737 rates.
Next tier would be the 757/7ER tier based on current 767 pay.
Finally a widebody tier for the 767-400, 330, 777, 787, 747 based on 747 pay rates.
Coupled with good international and redeye types of overides.
We felt that this would do several things for our pay system:
Reduce training cycles as there would be less chasing of payrates.
Provide marketing with the ability to plan routes with labor costs being less variable. Planners love "fixed costs"
Help to move us from a pay system that was set up to maximize "final average earnings" in the last 5 years for a pension based retirement to a system that gives a more steady increase over the average career to fit the current defined contribution system that favors "time value of money" for retirement.
Only three aircraft types to discuss at the negotiating table as all others would slot into one of these.
Top of the N1 box, right?
TC,
I think if you're getting more comfortable in the fleet it can't hurt for you to encourage SE Taxi. I'll often ask if 1 is OK, & if they seem hesitant I negotiate. I say how bout just 1 spinning until we get around the corner then if you want both I'll get the other one going. Many of my DTW CAs are becoming more receptive to this. I'm getting a lot more SE Taxi's lately, & I intend to push more plus spread Reddog 25's recently released SE Taxi data.

I want more. You want more. We differ in how to get there.

TC, I'm a LCA. There are no N1 limits for SE taxi. Plz PM me if you have any questions
I admire your work both here and over at the dalpa site. Truly MUST READ stuff.
If everyone were as aware of our circumstances I'd be far more confident about 2012.
Maybe as the amendable date approaches, you and I will be more successful in raising awareness of the monumental hole that we are in and what its going to take to even get back to ground level.

Sometimes its necessary to vent however.
Trying to do a good job on behalf of the same people who have me bent over grabbing my ankles is a bit too ironic some days.
Check, and DAL88, I do not think anyone disagrees that restoration is needed. Where people seem to differ is in its attainability.
Figure out how to change that, and that goal will be reachable.

I know you as well as many others are interested in restoration. Does your definition of restoration include scope? Are we in agreement that C2K plus anything is not even a starting point if further scope RELIEF is asked for?
The pilots compensation level is a small part of the operating an aircraft...... We continually sell ourselves short by thinking what we had in not obtainable. What we need is pre-BK compensation + COLA.
