Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I may do it differently when I make Captain at year 17-18, but for now I'm paying attention and enjoying flying with my North brothers.

I'm a First Officer in a North fleet, the new kid on the block and one of the only Southies in my base. I'm going with what the Captain's want, afterall they're the boss..... I'm here to learn a new aircraft and learn from guys that have been flying it since it showed up at NWA. Not a lot of SE taxi in the 320. I think most Captains see it as a safety issue and also as soon as you exceed your N1 limits when trying to taxi, FIFI reports herself via FOQA. There are other issues as well.

The key is that many of the "N1" limits are archaic and no longer applicable. GI Joe says that knowing is half the battle.
For September nothing more than the standard SLC 767 transitioning to er. But, for January the 330 to ATL was made to sound like a sure thing, with 320's and 744's possibly winding up there. Oh, and the 767 category in ATL going to all er.
All positive movement though. Looks like thing are moving in the right direction.

I may or may not be first in line for the megapoodle in ATL. I hope the guys that badmouth the bus down here keep to their guns on being scared about the bus.
Great to see continued positive movement!
The 747s are fenced no matter how many they get...UNLESS someone wants to make the argument that they are replacing a 777 that is on order. There is no "number limit'... the entire type is fenced, not just those on the property. The 747-200s were fenced, also, for whatever that matters.
The 777s for 787 is a slightly different deal. The company can PROBABLY avoid that mess by continuing to have 787s "on order" while taking delivery of something else.
Some lawyers gonna get rich if someone decides to press-to-test it.

If Delta is going to add some more 777's in the near term they are going about it in a funny way. They had after the last 2 were delivered 40 productions slots over the next 5 years. Those slots have to be reconfirmed and a deposit paid 18 months prior to production. Since the last two aircraft were delivered they have let lapse every 777 slot that has come up. This was because of the change in fleet plan to keep the 747's for five years instead of them all being gone by post SOC plus 2 years.
There are no plans as of 2 months ago to take any additional 777's in the next 3 years. Things can change fast and business travel has picked up since then and perhaps Delta is not confirming the prior orders as leverage in the 787 issues but for the moment its not happening.

If the flying comes out of MSP, that is, on average, the most senior A330 base for CA, not sure about FO. The addition of more 747s would mitigate a lot of the movement on the north side, but no way those airplanes are on the property before an ATL A330 AE.
Someone earlier also posted a correction that said +20 PILOTS to 747 A and B.

Buy used by often. There are plenty of used 777's that we can get our hands on as soon that the 788 starts arriving.
I would venture to bet we keep the 787 on the books with a large 789 order.
Had one of the Inspectors working in the Directors office of the Southern Region on our jumpseat from DCA a month ago. The number he gave was 25 total 744s. He said to look for a lot more 777s as well based on the penalties we have against Boeing on the 787 delays. I know that has been discussed before but I thought I would include his remarks on that.
I heard that from a Inspector too. 25 total seems to be the common number.

**The DAL head shed may have some ego and doesn't want to let the new UCAL be larger than DAL! (as long as growth is financially safe and profitable)
Only time will tell.....In three weeks its going to be fall slowdown time and people will be rumoring that the 90's are going to "replace" the oldest 88's and -50's.....Rumors seem to run on a hype for a week or two and then boredom for a couple weeks, rinse and repeat.
Shiz, it seems the slow down has started to effect the widebodies already. Few GS's and more WS's.
As many get used to the ebb and flow of DAL the seasonal hype or rumor will quell.
IMO DAL is not committing to anything because the economy is so uncertain. Jobless claims jumped again today. It cannot make up its mind. DAL not doing anything on a grand scale is a good thing, but that does not mean we should not explore golden opportunities. The MD-90's are just that.
