Yep, knowing your PWA and what it means really helps out. When you can find the section of the PWA and read it to them, they seem to agree real quickly.

Well, if we get an iPad for all our pubs, aren't the FAs going to want one too? ;-) I mean, they have publications to carry too! (TIC).

The Predatory Female

A must read for anyone thinking about getting married.

Male or female, a pre-nup these days is a must have for anyone with more than two nickles to rub together. For the ladies, too...women don't have a monopoly on getting alimony or child support anymore.

-The shipsets are AC specific, requiring multiple versions. The iPad could cover ALL airports and therefore be universal to the entire fleet.

-A searchable pdf on an iPad provides faster reference to key data than a shipset does.

-The iPad saves weight compared to a shipset.

-And Finally, I want Delta to buy me an iPad.

Don't forget, the iPad isn't certified by the FAA to be used below 10,000 feet. Kinda hard to use for that approach, when it cannot be turned on.

That is one of the biggest issues with EFB's on laptops or I-pad devices. At JetBlue we had everything on laptops, but still had to carry paper charts because the laptop was not secured to the aircraft or authorized for use below 10,000. It worked great for all the other pubs, but not so well for Jepp charts. It was also MORE expensive to pay Jepp for the electronic stuff than it was for the paper updates. JetBlue went with LIDO for about a year over a pricing issue, then went back to JEPP and most of that fight was over the costs of electronic stuff.

Unless the aircraft has something that you can actually dock the device into, the electronic stuff is not gonna save us money. The nicest thing at JetBlue was the PDF MEL book. You could look up an MEL and everything associated with it in about 2 seconds....it was great compared to the 50 lb. orange book we've got. We also had an app for performance calculations which was nice.

Looks like the bids are out BUT you have to go to the DALPA forums- Hangar Talk - Link to Bids - to get the link to actually get to the bid page.

Apparently, there is a problem with Deltanet.

My personal theory is the IAM is trying to make a stink. I've seen two different push crews walk off the job right when we get clearance to push. So far, not impressed at all with the professionalism by the ramp operation at DTW or MSP.
Not to be a stick in the mud but really? It could not possibly be worse than ATL. I've never once had a good experience in ATL. It's a breath of fresh air each time I get to a North base. ATL is a crap hole where only delays and bad things happen. Sorry but that place sucks in every way. There is no way you could convice me that a North base has more issues than ATL.
