Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Well, if we get an iPad for all our pubs, aren't the FAs going to want one too? ;-) I mean, they have publications to carry too! (TIC).
A must read for anyone thinking about getting married.
Male or female, a pre-nup these days is a must have for anyone with more than two nickles to rub together. For the ladies, too...women don't have a monopoly on getting alimony or child support anymore.
Nu
Let's look at the iPad as a shipset alternative, rather than our final EFB solution. Here are a few points to consider.
-The cost savings of electronic updates vs. manual updates of the shipsets should offset the initial capital outlay. Doing a basic NPV analysis would only take a few minutes.
-The shipsets are AC specific, requiring multiple versions. The iPad could cover ALL airports and therefore be universal to the entire fleet.
-A searchable pdf on an iPad provides faster reference to key data than a shipset does.
-The iPad saves weight compared to a shipset.
-And Finally, I want Delta to buy me an iPad.

Don't forget, the iPad isn't certified by the FAA to be used below 10,000 feet. Kinda hard to use for that approach, when it cannot be turned on.
Unless the aircraft has something that you can actually dock the device into, the electronic stuff is not gonna save us money. The nicest thing at JetBlue was the PDF MEL book. You could look up an MEL and everything associated with it in about 2 seconds....it was great compared to the 50 lb. orange book we've got. We also had an app for performance calculations which was nice.
Looks like the bids are out BUT you have to go to the DALPA forums- Hangar Talk - Link to Bids - to get the link to actually get to the bid page.
Apparently, there is a problem with Deltanet.

Have gone through the former NWA bases several times on the last few trips. Today we had to wait because "it's a long way from the break room". Just what does the in-range do anyway?
My personal theory is the IAM is trying to make a stink. I've seen two different push crews walk off the job right when we get clearance to push. So far, not impressed at all with the professionalism by the ramp operation at DTW or MSP.
