Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
No, not a yellow, because I'll be on call for those days. But you can't put in recovery preferences which, I think, means I can show trips that are open in priority order. I've only been doing the reserve thing for about 7 months now and haven't done it before. Just wondering if it actually works or not, and how it's done if it does.
Call Nancy on day shift and tell her what you want.

$1.2B to just tear down Term 3 and fix up 2?
Why in the hell didn't I take a job driving bull dozers for a living? That seems like where the billions are? I know, there is more to this but how much more really needs to be done? We need ramp space so tear down 3, fix the saucer up and connect to 4.
AND PUT WINDOWS IN THE BUILDING. For the sunbathers. I was walking from 3 to 2 one day and a very attractive girl was sun bathing where those moving sidewalks are. I wanted to take a picture and post it. You guys would've enjoyed it.
Kind of like this but so much better:

Carl;
I know we've beaten the flaps to death and realize you are on a fenced aircraft, but I was wondering how the FNW SOP would handle something like this:

By the way, saw the greatest picture today from a FA, a passenger (not on my flight) who was sitting in a seat with a life jacket on. She thought he had opened one of ours and inflated it. He said no, its his own. He just wanted to be ready, ever since the UsAir in the Hudson river incident. I asked, they were flying somewhere that didn't approach a body of water of any type. As long as the guy isn't nuts, I think its funny.

Also, I've been told the 737-700 doesn't make money domestically - we only have it for high altitude (Quito) South America Flying. Remember, without the DC-9, A-319 and 737-700 the smallest a/c on property is the MD-88 - which I believe holds 144? and the -90 which holds 150. Long way from these down to a 76 seat RJ to right size for various markets - SCOPE, SCOPE, SCOPE!!!!!!!!!
I heard the same thing but I think its just BS. Just like management hates RJs (as they order more). They can make money on RJs (including a profit margin for the DCI operator) yet the 737-700 and Airbus lose money. Color me skeptical.
Think about the big picture - Alaska, Airtran, Southwest, Frontier, Jetblu, and others can all make money on '700s and the Airbus, but poor old Delta can't. Really? You guys believe this crap?
Wait a minute, I thought the synergies of the merger would make us unstoppable. I thought being the largest carrier in the world would enable us to lock down a lot of high yield corporate accounts. Yet all these other companies can make money on smaller narrow-bodies and we can't - I don't believe it for a second.

The CRJ900 is very uncomfortable. The exit seats are the worst. I'm only 5'10 and the seat must be 5 inches from the back of my knees. The headrests don't even stay, they just slide right back down. The tray tables in 1st class unfold out of the armrest, & they're such pieces of crap they droop in your lap like a v so your drink constantly slides to the center and tries to spill. The whole thing reminds me of a tyco toy.
The E-jet felt or is wider and the windows are big and it just had a big jet feel and I liked riding in it a lot. But if we can get 3 MD90s for the price of 1, I can see why we're not making a move to have E190s here.
From a pax standpoint, and comparing coach seats (excluding exit rows), I would take the E-jet or the 2-seat side of the 88 over everything we had in the PMDAL fleet. Sad to say. I'll take the CRJ over a middle seat any day though. Of course I've heard the Bus' are comfortable, I'd like to try one some day.
Did I mention I'm 6'5"? I kind of don't fit in anything we have and I cannot lean my head back in any mainline airplane as the seat backs only come to my shoulders. But thats just my observation and something that is all very low on my complaint totem poll this evening.

I think you missed what was actually said about the profitability of the 737-700 in the fleet. The problem is the 737-700 is not a profitable airplane, which moves it into the same category as the DC9-30, DC9-40, DC9-50, MD88, MD90, 757-200, 757-300, 767-300, 767-400, 777-200, 747-200, 747-400, CRJ200, CRJ900, CRJ700, E145, E175, 737-800, A330, A320, A319.
Those airplanes are evidently all unprofitable as long as we're flying them.
I kid. But actually, its probably more true than we know. If you owned just one of those airplanes you wouldn't probably make a profit, if you owned a fleet of just one of them you'd struggle to remain profitable once you grew to full capacity. As a group they fill a niche and feed each other while we aim to make them as cheap as possible by buying whats the most mission appropriate and cost effective (new 777s or used MD90s). Its a collective, we all need each other really, Carl needs Buzz, Buzz needs Carl, Nu needs Bar, Bar needs Nu, Newk needs nobody, its just a happy place.
Where is 80 btw? Got his ipad and we hear less from him?
