Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Yikes... I'd be furloughed till about 2025 with that model.
I remember someone talking about how the 319 was a plane built around niche markets like Hayden, CO and stuff like that?? I'm sure having 737s on property is killing the credibility of the smallest bus. Last time I XCMd on a transcon, the 737-800 was sipping on about 5500 pounds an hour about an hour after a 160,000 pound plus takeoff. The 737 is a killer machine whether it's high frequency (LUV) or transcon. As long as those things keep showing up as replacements for the 319 I might be cool with that (sux to loose such a worthy cockpit layout). Giving up the 100 seat market, that's not even negotiable in my opinion.

Wall St. Journal reports:
Delta Air Lines Inc. is poised to get the green light for a $1.2 billion overhaul of its outdated terminals at JFK...
I don't have the online version so maybe someone could post the rest of the article.

Having said that they have no interest in a 100 seat aircraft. I doubt they will ask to fly one outsourced even as a throw away in their contract opener. They simply don't want the aircraft. The last 100 seat aircraft Delta ordered was in 1983.

Not sure if you are related to NewK or not, but you are spot on. From my understanding the 319 was essentially a weight reduction that came along to better fit the US market, the 320 initially had range/payload issues. Whereas the 737-7/8/9 was better answered by Boeing (something else I thought I'd never admit). I can honestly see management having a beef with the 319, if my memory serves me correctly that's one less seat than a DC-9-50? Now contrasting the lease on a 319 to that of a 737-8 transcon machine with how many more seats? I agree the assault on the 100 seat market is already in play, the question remains as to what and who will replace that market. Is the E190 and 195 really that bad of a machine when considering range and payload? Is it worse than the Dc-9 with flaps zero 6% overspeed takeoffs in the summer? The APU, cost to operate and customer experience has got to be better. How about 900 vs. The E-series? Rode the 900 from DTW to DFinW, nice machine.

Can someone answer this? The reserve coverage chart accounts for trips in open open time, yes? In other words, if it shows 12 trips in open time and -2 reserves for the day does that mean there are 10 reserves available that day?

No, not a yellow, because I'll be on call for those days. But you can't put in recovery preferences which, I think, means I can show trips that are open in priority order. I've only been doing the reserve thing for about 7 months now and haven't done it before. Just wondering if it actually works or not, and how it's done if it does.
I heard from a pretty reliable source that an announcement about JFK will occur within a week.
Res Avail are the reserves left at this point in time using all reserves to cover known open time.
Lets say you see the following.
Res Req Res Avail
12 2
That means that we have 12 reserves available. After Crew Skd covers all the trips in that base they will have 2 pilots left to cover additional sickouts, jury, DIF, MLOA, etc. after that is said and done most likely they will not have any reserves left to set up on shortcall. So if trips remain or open up they will use another Bases reserve pilots to cover the trips left in open time. If they have no reserves in other bases then they will move the trip back to the original base and Greenslip to cover.
Also for a P/D you need the Res Avail plus 1 to get the P/D.
If you are using your APD then the number of Res Avail must be at least 25% of the Res Req. In the above case it would be denined. You would need 3 and the APD would be approved. Next look at section 23I of the PWA it list holidays that two days before and 1 day after the major holiday a APD can be denined regardless of the staffing. Superbowl included ;-)

Nope. Pretty sure she volunteered to go through the Oogler so she can avoid the Magnetometer altogether.
That way she doesn't need to remove all her "hard to reach" piercings.
