Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Dp
What is a duty period? Sometimes I only fly(working) one short leg one day, and it does not count for a duty period.
I hope our pilot group aims to improve our minimum pay per day in the next contract. 6 hours a day will require 13 days to reach 78 hours. Just a way to make the company more productive. Less hotels and per diem for Delta to pay. I want get my hours in and go home.
Its worth going through a A320 DTW bid package and looking at the 5-day 28hr trips. It can be done. I just think there should be a rule, they should all be commutable. The 730am start to a 17 leg 28 hour trip with constant <7am go's is a bit too much for me- I'll start bidding a line.

A regular pilot who departs his base on a scheduled flight segment with a landing at an airport other than the airport of take-off or its co-terminal is guaranteed average pay and credit of not less than five hours and fifteen minutes (5:15) for each duty period other than a duty period comprised solely of deadheading.
Duty Period Minimum (DPM) (12 I.)
A pilot who reports for a rotation will receive minimum pay and credit of two hours for each duty period.
Exception: A pilot who acknowledges his removal from a rotation under Section 4 H.1.a. is not eligible for DPM notwithstanding Section 4 F.
Reserve Duty Period Average (12 J.)
At the end of each bid period, a reserve pilot will receive the greater of:
a. his accumulated credit earned in the bid period,
b. his reserve guarantee, or
c. 5:15 pay, no credit for each qualifying duty period.
A qualifying duty period is a duty period (other than a duty period comprised solely of deadheading) in which the pilot:
a. is credited with flight time with a landing at an airport other than the airport of takeoff or its co-terminal (except for flight segments scheduled between co-terminals or verification flights/functional check flights) on an on-call day, or
b. flies on an X-day for reasons other than a yellow slip or GS award, or
c. performs an airport standby duty period.
Refer to Section 12
Now back to my Cameron Diaz movie.

Its likely it will have the opposite effect. With increased layover times and decreased maximum duty hours total rotation values will likely go down. There was some talk of dropping the 8 hour daily max which could have some positive effect. It is however likely that this would lead to the building of some high time turns. This will be great for very senior pilots in category but have a negative effect on other rotations. Its very difficult to build high time rotations when you take a lot of the long legs out of the mix to build turns.
Besides a pay increase, I would like to see a change in the definition of duty period. I don't like pre-flighting the jet, sitting there with passengers with the door open (DOT 3-hour rule) and NOT getting paid.
I would like the clock to start 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Therefore, if there's a maintenance issue we're dealing with, or a passenger issue, or waiting for the ramp to clear with the door open, we're getting paid.
This will mean that the passengers won't get on the plane unless its going (a good thing). And they won't let us sit there sweating on the plane with the door open to get around the DOT 3-hour rule, when in the past, we would have been on the tarmac somewhere.

This would assume DAL could develop a scheduling program to track this stuff. Considering that it will take the company about 10 years to figure out what facebook and twitter are, you are micro-managing this.
Here's the thing: it may look good on pappier, but it will bite them on the a.. later. LET IT.
I got abused by a Crew Scheduler because I could not make a Green Slip. I was in a city other than the departure city for the GS. It would take me at least 12 hrs to get there. The response: she removed my GS from the computer. NOT COOL.
Let them flounder. DAL is making money and so are we.
