As soon as you get many people on board, it overwhelms the system. But I routinely notice pilots not turning it on until ~5 minutes before push, by that time, the whole back of the plane is sweating and its embarassing.

And when you pull into the gate after the flight with a full load of people, start the APU! In the five minutes between engine shut down and the external air being hooked up, while everyone (again in the far back) is sitting there in an aluminum tube with the "windows rolled up", it gets frikkin hot!

I hate the APU sheriff thing, and think its the dumbest thing we've ever done. But
why pilots continue to make their passengers sweat is beyond me....
AMEN 100%. It's what happens when people haven't shed the $120+bb oil procedures. I haven't seen it as much as I used to but it's still out there and that's why having 88 crews DH'd on an 88 is a good thing, it's an eye opener.

People need to use APU AIR CONDITION COLDER, it needs to be used and the volume and temp in my experience has been much stronger than when just selecting ON. When I was trained on the 88 I was told you can never use it, don't know why becuase 88 Vol 1, SP 2.1: If cabin is above 75°F: Select AIR COND COLDER. With both packs on, if left or right air conditioning pressure remains or is <12 psi; operate only one pack.

Agreed.

Approach Checklist= Packs at the 50% cold Mark.

Landing checklist= Packs full cold

Keep the APU until ground air is hooked up and blowing. Then shut down. As the guidance stated last year, do not let the cooling chambers of the ACM's warm up. If you do you will never cool down the jet. It takes a few extra minutes of your time, but the next crew and load of passengers will be happy it is comfortable.

On a side note I see they are changing the JetAir hoses with insulated ones, and that should help the issue immensely.

Nope, the 777 does LOS, and the 330 does a few and the ER. More 330 time may be going that way. They are also adding ER time there this fall.

I know.. just yankin the chain a little. I THINK we go to all of them on the -ER... but I am not positive. I know the -ER does more Africa than any other category, but I think some destinations change seasonally.. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Yikes, I feel like such a slacker. I have 0 RAW after 8 days of reserve. I even tried dropping my ys by 15 and didn't get anything, most of the trips went out on with a P. And I was still #2 all last week.

I'll be swimming in a sea of jepps when I go back to work I guess, can't wait til ship sets.

I should have better luck next week. I'm actually going to bid harder for a line with some else start nexts of course added in just in case. its fun when you bid, its like day 1 of baseball season, you can have whatever you want... until PCS shows up and you're down 0 to 15 in the 1st inning.

---
I will say I am now a believer in being able to do more than 6 days in a row on reserve. It makes swaping days off a whole lot better.
