Baloney. All the stuff that I knew of was totally scalable.

Our dispatchers had an incredible workstation in ops control. It was not at all uncommon to see other companies touring ops control to see those workstations. Obviously your dad didn't have a high opinion of NWA, but he's given you bad info.

Can't happen fast enough. But some of the NWA stuff would have been a great intermediate step.

Carl
Nwa.com was great... I'm talking about PARS/AOP, ATLAS and so on... those were mostly just masks.

Like was previously stated- sounds like what you've stated here is probably not the case.

What is your deal with my dad? None of those comes from him! I've seen it myself. The workstations that the dispatchers had were great... I'm talking about the worldflight interface itself.

The NWA stuff would have been a great intermediate step if it was able to play nicely with the planned end product, which it's not. See the difference?

One of the people that was in on those decisions has now been promoted to this new position. I question the wisdom of that given the record. Others love it because of his resume, and their personal knowledge of him as a person.

I've stated my irritation that so many of our fNWA guys with proven records have been forced out of their positions. Most are being replaced by fDAL guys. If the roles were reversed, you would notice. I don't consider my statement one of North versus South - just stating the facts thus far.

Carl:

You are exactly the person who needs to quit the line and go to work at the desk. You have all the answers and clearly could do a better job.

Please? We really need you to save Delta. You're the only chance we've got! We need you.

As I stated in my post, nwa.com was just one example. An example of NWA IT solutions that were judged by outsiders to be the best.

So your beef is with a single interface within an otherwise "great" workstation? And you call me picky!

Playing with the planned end product had nothing to do with it. It had to do with playing with the current old school technology of the new Delta. There is no planned end product right now. We're hoping to patch up what we currently have. You're happy with that - I'm not.

They told him he got the pubs he ordered when he ordered them and was on his own for the updates.

Moral of the story: don't order your pubs until very close to your class date. Then pull several all-nighters doing the cd's. Or, order the aircraft pubs and Jepps separately; that should keep the updating to a minimum.
Wow. That's unfortunate. Seems amazing to me that they can issue you a set of manuals and give you no way to keep them current. Should I just expect to go by manual services every month for the rest of the year and beg for updates? Is there perhaps somewhere in the crew lounge in ATL where they keep extra?

Call MS and have them co-mail whatever you need...

Like I said, NWA IT was overall better.

The single worldflight interface was what I was talking about... you expanded it to the entire workstation, which by the way have you seen the ones at OCC? quite snazzy themselves.

Playing with the end product had EVERYTHING to do with it. The planned end product is a fully integrated SAP system, as has been stated numerous times. Reading, as they say, is fundamental.

There is a wall in the ATL domestic pilot lounge with all the extra revisions. That would be my recommendation for the best way to keep your manuals up to date between now and then. You can check the DeltaNet page for your fleet and print out the current revisions sheet to get your "shopping list".

Its all online. If you see a revision there that you need, fill out the online form for MS. They'll mail it to your v-file at your base. Works great.
