Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

I've flown with several North FA crews, and all I can say, from my perspective, they were a lot friendlier and engaging than some of the South crews I've been saddled with. They were domestic, so I can't comment on any international cat raNCHERS YET.

And not your problem? Gimme a break. Due to the limited IT of DAL, they require the pilots to put their employee number in so that they can get paid what they rate, and you say not my problem?
Let me guess....you're on your second wife?

hmmmm... what to do...

Uh, I don't think I want to get the popcorn for this but it seems like everything affects US. airlines:
Egypt allowed at least one Israeli and 11 American warships to pass through the Suez Canal as an Iranian flotilla approaches Gaza. Egypt closed the canal to protect the ships with thousands of soldiers, according to the British-based Arabic language newspaper Al Quds al-Arabi.

![Question](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
So future AE question here / pay protection....
A) If you were awarded M88 B ATL on the current AE ( I was) and training is not gonna happen till December, can I bid up to something else in the meantime if the next AE comes out before then (like ATL 73N?? or higher) would they let me?
B) If a new hire gets trained before do I get pay protected to their higher position pay??
Thanks in advance to whoever knows

Geeze,
Come on youze guys........what ever happened to "out nice" someone to change behavior..........
Just say'en,
Ferd
PS Like I said, I haven't flown with a south FA crew yet so I can't compare, but the majority of FAs I fly with care and work hard. Maybe they are nervous about you guys too?

I've got a White Slip question. If you pick up a rotation via a WS that takes you to 29:30 within 7 days, is that legal per the PWA? From what I'm reading in Section 23 P. 7. f., this would be a valid pickup because there's a 30 minute buffer. I just want to make sure I'm reading it correctly. Secondly, if I exceed the FAR 30 in a 7 because of delays due to weather, ATC, etc. and they remove the WS rotation, am I still pay protected?

I don't think you can bid on a subsequent AE if you were awarded a position requiring a freeze. Your 2 year freeze in the 88 begins the date of the award, in your case May 19. As far as the newhire, I don't know.
bid what you want, want what you bid

Just flew with my 1st DS FAs on the short bus. Guess what? Service, attitude and age was about what I am used to
Lets face it a large portion of our FAs (for that matter, AA, Ual, Lcc etc) do more to drive customers away than pleasing them. That goes for the surly agents and poor underwing service. I am not saying all but enough just don't care. Until this is fixed(which it won't) we will never be a world class airline. We cannot hold a candle the Asian and Middle East carriers. My guess is not even the Western European.
![Frown](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Lets face it - Legacy FA's as a group do not stack up favorably against LCC FA's. I realize that there are many outstanding legacy FA's out there, but on average, they are much older, much more surly (mostly with good reason) and far less enthusiastic then the younger FA's. Most Legacy FA's have taken huge benefit hits in BK, have had more responsibility dumped on them etc. LCC Fa's have generally not had to deal with much of this.
So here we are in a service industry, and a good deal of our front line employees who interact with our customers are not very happy - is it any wonder our survey ratings are in the dumps. We can make PAs until we turn blue, we can fly a stellar flight with a smooth touchdown etc but if the FAs do not interact positively with the customers it aint gonna matter.
Oh and we are not even in the same league as some of the international carriers who are not barred from discrimination in hring. "Why yes, we are hiring, says AnyAsia airline - are you female, single, smoking hot, bi-lingual with a sunny disposition and under 30?" If not don't bother applying.

The second question is certainly a good one for your ALPA rep. Do some homework in the contract before you call them. Why you say? Sometimes reps can give you a bum answer from memory or from what he or she THINKS is how it works. I had this happen to me back in around 1994 and it ultimately cost me thousands of $. The company backpeddled out of a deal with the LCA. Then ALPA gave me some erroneous info. I could have grieved it along with the other LCA, but I was brainwashed into thinking like a company man. I won't go into boring details, but the bottom line is occasionally this can happen, so learn the answer before you call them, and things will often times happen your way.
Unless the contract has some little obscure LOA or nomenclature regarding new hires, I think you should be pay protected to the higher rate, but they didn't ask me for my opinion.
