Someone said this last night and I kind of think its a good idea but at our hubs that have ramp issues, such as JFK and ATL, it would be good to find one of our unused frequencies and use it as a list read off frequency and keep the main frequency more free for more essential communication.

And what in the world does that $5M FAA party have to do with Delta?

Now if you post this article Southwest Airlines Spends $180,000 in lobbying in 1Qand claim that there is something disingenuous about the FAA holding up the slot swap because we didn't add the carrier they wanted into the mix. But throwing a $5M party because your a bloated headless government regime that thinks its royalty has nothing to do with Delta Air Lines.

Read what you wrote and then read what sailing wrote. I am not talking about the legal side of the issues. Your stance is that the company covered a LCA who landed on the taxiway. That is false, your facts are wrong, he was not even in the cockpit. So the premise that the company was protecting a management type and frying a ling grunt does not hold water.

As to the last part, it is just stupid to say I pick one event over another. It is purely conjure. Ala, no point in picking a flight on that type of merit.

Bingo! We have a winner. All4114all, you are missing the point. Sure, I agree with you, the NWA incident was probably less dangerous than the DAL incident. However, what you fail to see is, one was caused by a willful violation, the other was not. That is the key difference, and it is stated right there on the ASAP Form ... an ASAP is only filed for inadvertent violations or deviations.

In the case of NWA188, both the media and public were smart enough to realize that flying over an hour while playing on laptops, not paying attention to the aircraft or its position, and blowing off ATC is egregious and negligent.

This wasn't a NWA versus DAL issue. In my opinion, ALPA left these pilots high and dry. ALPA representatives should have been on every talkshow and news TV show showing ATC's culpability in this incident. Additionally, they should have also shown how other carriers (jetBlue I believe), allows their pilots to use laptops in flight.

Better yet, maybe take the advice of their ALPA reps and say nothing and talk only to the lawyers and their reps. We generally do not fight battles in public. Ask yourself why?

Anotherwords, and this is for us and not 188, don't think you as a nobody peon could handle something on your own that even a team of experienced profesisonals will barely be able to handle.
