If I remember correctly, submit it by 9am and it's hanging in your closet the next day. Good quality.

As a DC9 FO, this change had made life much easier. You won't here me complain. I will point out one benefit to the old way. As you were sitting in the runup pad waiting for the numbers, you were on the clock and getting paid.

No longer necessary. The loads are back up in Asia so we'll just keep the 757's flying out there.

My memory is 1999-2000 time frame dated, but if memory serves, you are able to (A) get SAME DAY service, if in before 9:00 am local. After 9:00, you can (B) have it delivered to your room early afternoon (like 2:00 pm) NEXT day, or pick up at your convienance downstairs anytime after noon. But like I said, time and memory may be off a bit. Enjoy the orient. Like Dorothy said, "...this ain't Kansas, Toto..."

I have a PBS question. I'm on the -88 and I noticed this message for July...

**Attention all domestic pilots: The reserve parameter settings for your categories have been expanded up to nine consecutive Maximum Days On.

How can you be on for nine consecutive days as a domestic pilot? That's not a legal schedule because there's no 24 hour break from duty in there? I'm a little confused at how they can let PBS build schedules that violate the FAR's.

Oh this again... anyway.

You can have a 24 hour break on a layover, or get in at 4pm on day 6 and leave at 7pm on day 7. Worked both days, but you had a 24 hour break so it's legal.

Works for reserve too. For reserves, if required, scheduling will give you a 24 hour break.

There was a discussion (a couple of weeks ago?) on this and I think the gist of it was it's a look back rule not a look forward rule. In other words, you have to be able to look back 7 days and see a 24 hr free of duty period. If you come up to your 7 days then the company cannot assign you a trip until they give you the 24hrs off. They would have to give you a 24 hr+ notification of a trip assignment to get you the required duty free period. At least that's my limited understanding. This assuming you are on reserve because that's what the "Maximum days on" in your post is refering to.

When you are on call you are not on duty but you are not off either.

I agree with you. It has made life easier on the Airbus as well. Less heads down and fiddle-fking time while taxiing. Also....it saves gas. No more waiting for the numbers after engine startup. I'm pretty pleased with the new pre-flight procedures as well. Less work....I like!

I understand how the rule works which is why I'm asking the question. As a lineholder, it makes sense that PBS can build a schedule with 9 days on because you could have a 24 hour break between trips. What I don't understand is how PBS can build a schedule for a reserve pilot with more than six days on. If PBS built this schedule, would the schedulers go in there before the schedule is published and move my days off around to make it legal?
