Went out to welcome home my bros from my old squadron today at Shaw AFB, SC. They have been in Iraq for the past four months. What a great memorial day surprise to see them landing in a freshly painted Delta 744! They were all very happy with their ride home, of course.

Don't know, I haven't been to it in a while. Maybe some of the "all knowing" on this board can shed some light.

Now that May has come to a close, here is my vent. I flew my butt of this month on reserve picking up trips so I would be semi-free for memorial day. I had one of the highest raw scores for the month and what do they do? 0400 SC!!! There was another 0400 SC with a much lower raw score and same days of availability. Who did they call first? You know it!! They also covered it at 0145 but didn't call me until 0450. Talk about ****ed!!!

Here's one...307 new hires in 2010 and 200+ in 2011. only about 40 recall/bypass have shown interest and looking to be about 160 off the street.

Which equipment are you on?

Despite the denials from those who have not sat reserve in a while ... there is a troubling trend of late notifications going around. Three hours prior to departure works fine. Two hours prior seems to be the standard in use lately. IMHO if they place these max effort "do the best you can" calls they should also place a courtesy call to the other pilot so the rest of the crew knows that they are going to have to either do the reserve guy's pre departure tasks, or expect a delay.

To the credit of the Captains, 99% of them see a sweaty first officer arriving at push time out of breath and say "sit down, lets brief and read, it's all done."
