Ahhhh, I now know where you are talking about and it has always got great reviews from everyone I know who has gone there. I'll get there soon.
Thanks.
We're going to the new CQ to keep everyone current on all of the different int'l theatre's. AQP is an airline specific training thing. Each airline defines what they wish to do and training is 12 months apart and can be extended in 3 month increments to 39 months. Standard 121 training is every 12 months (Capts get a checkride every 6) unless they have a CRM program with LOFT and then they can extend to 12 months.
Delta is going to the new footprint in order to add additional LOFTs for each theatre. It doesn't really save them much money in terms of training but ensures that all of the int'l pilots are always theatre qualified if they were to get called out or WS.

I'm sure it is ignorance on my part, but I have flown to all the theatres and don't really understand what the hubbub is. In fact, about a month ago, when I was reading the memo on all the theatre qualification requirements, there was only one thing that stood out to me - We are going to need a heck of a lot more line check airmen.
The most challenging theatre is not africa or south america, it is the part of the India flight when you are flying over Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. There is nothing but opportunity to make CNN international there -and there is no theatre qual. Africa and SA just have poor radar coverage and SA has a few decompression routes and ball notes.
I just dont know why there is so much being made of theatres. I do know why guys make a big deal of malaria. The EMphasis is on the wrong SYllable.

Edited: It seems you are fine continuing a toxic relationship with management. Fine.. your choice. Just don't drag me into it. there are times for grievances, and there are times when a phone call will suffice. When it's chronic, file.. When it's a one and done... you can go ahead and file. I'll make the call and get paid. Just leave me out of your toxic world. And if you think reddog is going to bring me down, you will be thirsty.
What I am saying is make the call...get paid...and file the grievance so that your other DAL pilots don't have to be abused by DAL.

OK...seems T-Square still has the martini. I did not say we must maintain a toxic relationship with management.

Where the process falls apart and fails is when a union or individual insists on pursuing a grievance that has no merit. If you do this often you poison the well for pilots going through the process in the future. Federal mediators have a memory. They know who wastes their time and yanks their chain. This can come back to truly haunt a pilot group at some point. Think about the next merger because there will be a next one!
Nice. I'm still waiting for that one. Just need someone to call in sick so I can cover it. Doing Sacramento on Memorial Day so think I'll check out Raging Waters Waterpark. I hear it's nearby.

It's actually a little more enjoyable in Feb/Mar/Apr. Temp is around 75-80 degrees then. Today it was 90+ degrees. Still good scenery though, and cheap food/beer.
