We're renting a condo at the beach, it has like 100 movies, includnig Airplane! I threw it in without permission. I hadn't seen it in a long long time. I was laughing so hard. It felt good. We had watched Cold Mountain the night before, I don't think I laughed all day after that damn waste of time; here's a well told story where things gets worse, gets more worse, then really worse, and then it ends worse. Go figure, a common man's and woman's tale of the civil war would be hell.
Airplane! Laugh. The Jaws opening scene, the 707 that sounds like a DC-7, the hot flight attendant that nearly kills that girl with her guitar, the beach scene where the kissing couple gets walloped by the surf, the background scenery of the airport that makes you scream because that was 30 years ago and I think that 1/2" yellow tile still exists in many places!

Captain, your navigator, Mr. Unger, and your first officer, Mr. Dunn.
Capt. Clarence Oveur: Unger
Mr. Unger: Oveur.
Mr. Dunn: Oveur.
Capt. Clarence Oveur:
Dunn. Gentlemen, let's get to work.
Simon:Unger, didn't you serve under Oveur in the Air Force?
Mr. Unger: Not directly. Technically, Dunn was under Oveur, and I was under Dunn.
Mr. Dunn: Yep.
Simon: So, Dunn, you were under Oveur, and over Unger.
Mr. Dunn: Yep.
Capt. Clarence Oveur: Uhh, that's right. Dunn was over Unger, and I was over Dunn.
Mr. Unger: So, you see, both Dunn and I were under Oveur, even though I was under Dunn.
Capt. Clarence Oveur: Dunn was over Unger, and I was over Dunn.
Jimmy Wilson: Can I ask you a question?
Ted Striker: What is it?
Jimmy Wilson: It's an interrogative statement, used to test knowledge, but that's not important right now.

First we are a closed agency shop now. We were not that way for Delta's entire history. There was a time when pilots could opt out and not pay an assessment. That is not the case today as we are a closed agency shop.
Also FtB, that is correct. You must pay all back dues to become a member in good standing.

Not familiar with Georgia's right to work statutes either and whether agency shop and/or union shop are legal in the state.
IIRC, the 1.85% vs 1.95% also applies to Executive Inactive members.

Agency is what I meant, not closed.
Yes it does apply to Exec Inactive as well.
We are an agency shop.
Read Section 27 if anyone is interested.

Just realize you are getting what you pay for here!
With that said, I do not know why a 12 day trip would be any different than a 4 day trip as far as dropping the entire trip. Just remember there are certain restrictions for holidays and reserves, just much lower. And you will lose all the pay associated with that trip.
As far as the GS example, 5 hours would go to cover the difference between 70 and 75 hours at regular pay and 5 hours would be GS pay. There is a way around this predicament if you do not want to fly a trip at straight pay. You can use your bank to fill up the 5 hours of straight pay and then get the GS pay for the 10 hours of the GS. If I remember right, you can go up to a -30 hours and a +60 hours in your full service bank.
