OK I can't get a straight answer for this. I had nine days of reserve in a row. A few former NWA friends of mine said they needed to call me and put me to rest for 24 hours and long call doesn't count for that rest. I worked or was on short call for 8 of the 9 days and one long call day. Former NWA friends that's bull, they needed to call me and give me 24 off. I called scheduling and they said there is no such rule. Hmmm?
Of course, it wouldn't suprise me if they try to argue that you aren't on duty so they don't have to. Which is funny because as it been explained to me we receive 12 hours notice so you an have 9 hours of REST & 3 hours to report. Hmmmmm. Why would you need rest if you're not on duty? There has been some fishy stuff going on with scheduling. Seems they get bend the rule to their advantage.
Another that cracks me up is that they have to gives us 12 hours notice on while on long call so we can have rest, but SC isn't duty so we don't need rest. Yeah, the FAA rest rules aren't jacked up at all.

Take business cards with you, and present one to the A during boarding. She will present it to the Captain, who will often approve an upgrade. Shake hands with everyone you meet, and introduce yourself as a Delta "GP". That's their term for nonrevs. Noone knows what a "GP" means exactly (it must be a code for an old computer reservation system), but that's what you are.
Good luck.

Many airlines do not see "reserve" as "duty." They therefore consider it similar to rest, because no where does it say that reserve isn't rest. With reserve (similar to rest) they're fine with 9 in a row, or assigning you a back to back international red eye at the end of your window of short call availability. Some people like it that way to group their reserve days together.
ALPA and the airlines are waiting for the FAA to come along and provide some definitions in the "new" mandatory crew rest regulations which keep getting pushed back.

Here's a graph of retirements at Delta - it ends at 2036, 'cause that's when I retire.
Ok - got it to load.

The computer will not let me put together more than 6 days in a row, unless this just changed under LOA.

So it was a FNWA item to put you to rest for 24 in a nine day reserve sched. and that does not apply any longer? Something that was contractual that we lost in the transition?

I bet they can retire. They are just too proud to tighten the belt. It's sad that they think they have to fly to 65.
exactly, especially when the solid majority have military retirements also. The majority of Nwa guys I fly with have no intention on flying to 65. They may go out on extended medical leave at the end of their careers though
