Heyas ACL,

The only way the AK merger will happen is if there is another game changer.

SWA has the coin to burn through any "poison pill" if they really want to.

so much for the rumored A330Atl.
Awful for the cvg boys.
Not much heavy recovery for Atl,after the last bid.
Yeah... and they're a sympathetic bunch ... . Maybe it is because they haven't gotten two pay cuts in a row with 3 visits to the schoolhouse in a year.

It will come around. I'm just surprised at the net block hours constantly being pulled out of Atlanta on everything but the MD88. When you walk up E Concourse in the afternoon 2 out of 3 jets is a A330 or 747. DC8 is right, seems like they would staff that time out of ATL.

For whoever was worrying about CVG guys displacing to ATL, don't get your panties in a wad. There may be a few, but not many, I'd wager. CVG-ATL is a bear of a commute, and most of the CVG guys live either in CVG, or a drivable distance from CVG (i.e. IND, CMH) Much easier to commute (via plane or car,) to DTW - and I think they have enough vacancies that no one will get kicked out of DTW, either.

...suddenly it's quiet as everybody updates their AE/VD/MD prefs...

How can I get into a more junior category that has no posted vacancies? IE, I want off the NYC ER and on the NYC 73.

Bar,

It's the second post in a couple of days where you manage to fan the flames of a fire that we're all pretty content to see extinguished. It's also a pretty short-sighted attitude in terms of the AE itself. The problem with the SLI, and the reason I think we were correct to insist that Relative Ratios were eminently fair to the fNWA guys, is that a greater % of their flying was not the (dare I say "premium"?) best flying you could hope for. The differential of what a fNWA and a fDAL guy could hold for a constant seniority % is greatly exacerbated by the fact we (DAL) did not have such a stratified list, where everyone did their level best to hold the highest paying equipment possible. We had a guys chase QOL more, and guys ducking from NYC, which created an unusual situation, with even newhire getting the ER.

The thing us junior guys would fear, therefore, is to have fNWA guys flow, in a way that would "rectify" the seniority list. In my opinion, any bid that is "favorable" to the fNWA side (to the extent you believe there are "sides"), is an opportunity for fNWA guys to bid around "their" system, and not flow "over here".

So you may be upset that ATL flying is shifting, and the CVG guys are legitimately upset about what's happening to their base, but that doesn't mean the fNWA "side" is favored. As always, the only real source of mutual advancement is growth and attrition. For once, we have a net positive bid. Let's be sympathetic to the CVG guys, but let's also be grateful we're not sliding backwards in the aggregate.
