Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I cannot find this article I posted, nor find it through the search engine, from aviation week concerning the slot swap's first rejection. But in that article it mentioned that both Continental and United had joined with Delta and UsAir stating that the DOT did not have the right to demand slots be divested to competition.
So if I get this right, we have Delta, USAir, Continental, United, AirTran, Spirit, Westjet, Jetblue, and probably AMR (given their additional slot swap with JB) and probably Alaska (don't we own them? )
vs.
LaHood, rudderless DOJ and a SWA who never wanted into LGA in the first place and a made up precedent.
I'd laugh if this ever gets to the SCOTUS.

I hope somebody at the Washington Post is keeping a close eye on LaHood and his cronies. I'll bet there is more than meets the eye.
Quick fact: In 2008, Ray LaHood secured $60 Million in earmarks for his district, and of that $60 Million, $9 Million went directly to his campaign donors. Not saying there is a connection, but it does seem strange that only SWA makes the grade for a slot divestiture

Yea we dont have many good looking ones at compass. Mostly the 3 g's!!
A while back ACL, I thought you said it looked like the plan was small classes with recalls and flows only until atleast the start of 2011. Avoiding a full ramp up of the interview process. Do you still think that is the case.

I do think the number will go up, barring oil, plague, volcanoes etc.
Like Delta, this is a very conservative number in case the double dip shows up. IMHO, it is smart and prudent to start slow.
What is the DAL policy with regards to people who've interviewed and not been hired? eligible for re-apply? or no? I made it thru the eval, but not the 3 on 1 interview process..
OK Shiz, but the former bypass guys are already DAL pilots. I am one who came back two years ago. What the guys who were also in INDOC when I came back couldn't understand was that I was hired 7 years prior and had seniority on them because I'd been FURLOUGHED for all that time.
New hires need to understand that there are hundreds of guys who have gone before. Flown Delta jets. Been furloughed. And may or may not come back. That's not cheating any body out of their "career expectations" or their seat. Our guys come first. Then, the food fight can commence. If ANY furloughed guy on either side is passed over, that's completely unacceptable.

The bypass guys need to have new hire classes going to accept recall. Flows accomplish this. These guys will get the first dibbs on any jet or base. They are senior.
Thats how it used to be under NWA, and it was great. But now DAL is building the trips, and they really suck. I've never seen so many crappy redeyes followed by 12 hours of rest, then another 2-3 legs. 5 hour sits in TPA before your last leg? Really? LAX-GDL redeye followed by a GDL-ATL-DTW DH???
Man, DAL can build some stinky ones.
That being said, it's still a good job and I'm happy to have it.

Ok, I'm trying to understand fleet staffing.
A few months ago, we were going to bulk up our narrowbody staffing and make lots of money in the domestic market.
Now, we're not going bulk up our narrowbody staffing. Instead, we're going to focus on widebody and make lots of money internationally.
Why aren't we bulking up narrowbody and widebody and making lots of money domestically *and* internationally?

Simpler. If we knew last Sept what they know now, we would have had new hires last fall. Hindsight is 20-20.
Hard to say as I haven't played reserve under the new rules, but I imagine their concept is the long call guy will fly first and likely accumulate more hours. I got called out SC once on the A320 in a year, long call, 18+ hours was the norm. Again, I have no idea how this has all changed but imagine I will know soon enough.
