Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
How long can the furlough bypass guys accept recall?
til 2014 is the short answer.

Hush kits on a 757? really?? uh, no, I think that rumor can safely be shot in the head and put away except that the desert airframes do need heavy maintenance, but other than that, they are lots cheaper than new ones...
I was thinking the same thing. They just need HMV and mod to conform with current fleet cabin standards.
not sure, but have indigestion thinking about it.
thanks for asking.

Just really wonder how many "new" hires we'll actually see. Like ACL said, now that the bypass guys have the combined seniority list to pad them and offer more base/seat options, I would surmise that we will only see around 50-80 new bodies (based on 240 slots).
When they hired last time it hosed up the system greatly when they had the classes of 50 two weeks apart; then again we have both DAL-N and DAL-S "new hire systems".
SO, if there are 100 a month that can start since we have double the sims and instructors, that is 2 and a half months.
That is 87 from the flows. (20/mo CPZ, 9/mo MSA)
Its all up to the bypass guys if we see ANY off the street pilots.
If 150 bypass guys elect to come back ASAP, they will eat up the first month and a half; leaving 58 slots for flows (2 months' worth).
That only leaves 32 slots out of 240 for off the street guys......
That'll be some serious competition, I can see the panel interview now:
How many Space Shuttle landings do you have?
Oh, ok none? Well then how many tours did you do as the CO of the Thunderbirds/Blue Angels?
Oh, so you're related to Richard Anderson how again?

New hires need to understand that there are hundreds of guys who have gone before. Flown Delta jets. Been furloughed. And may or may not come back. That's not cheating any body out of their "career expectations" or their seat. Our guys come first. Then, the food fight can commence. If ANY furloughed guy on either side is passed over, that's completely unacceptable.
buzzpat, I totally agree with your post. seems like some me me me stuff going on when the hiring gets announced.
<<10 years after they were furloughed. And if not hiring at that time they get another 4 years. If recalled and furloughed again....the clock resets @ 10 years.

To clarify even more. Up to 10 years, you can choose to come back or not (so long as there is hiring going on), because of the merger they added 4 more years. However if you get recall in the '4 more years' part, there is no more choice. You accept recall when called, or resign on the spot.
That's the way the letter reads anyway.
