Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I thought hey originally said we had to give them away and this announcement says we have to sell them. If we get to sell them, who sets the price on the slots? Maybe the government can require that SWA buy the slots for 500 million dollars each.
Blind auction & govt determines who is eligible to bid. Just as expected with this corrupt regime. United will fly though, wait and see.
I would like to see us show our "gratitude" towards the DOT by announcing a $20 across the board fare increase on any flight to/from LGA and DCA. We heard how this deal would be great for consumers, now if it doesn't happen, it then must be bad for consumers. I bet LCC would match.
It would just be fun to see the DOT squirm when asked why they caused fares to increase. I'm sure they would just blame those darn airlines for trying to make a profit.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Transportation Department is approving a swap of takeoff and landing slots between Delta Air Lines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc., while imposing conditions similar to those that the airlines have said might kill the deal.
The slots are at Reagan National Airport in Washington and LaGuardia airport in New York.
The Transportation Department says it would require Delta and US Airways to sell 14 pairs of slots at Reagan and 20 at LaGuardia to airlines that have little service at those airports.
The DOT says its conditions are similar to those it announced on Feb. 9. The airlines said then that those conditions would negate the financial benefits of the deal.
Time to go to court. This is the most regulated deregulated industry I've seen!!

Alfa, as you know they have us over a barrel with the HND slots. We need to either give in or get out. Going to court would all but guarantee that we would not get HND access.
We're not getting HND slots anyway. There is no pretense of fairness or neutrality with this government. The winners have been chosen and we ain't it.
How's hope and change working out for ya?

Well, on the other hand, the "changemeister" continues to give me lots to write about.
