I agree with your premise, BUT:

You tried to make the point using AirTran as an example which was a horrible choice and shows lack of research. Not all that surprising...

Oh, I get it.... we're buying all of UAL's widebodies and converting them into freighters!

Just a truck that hold belongings. It is generally used when one changes locals!

Heyas,

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more I realize that ALPA national's involvement in scope is incorrect as it pertains to individual airlines.

Perhaps we should treat scope negotiations like merger negotiations, where National shouldn't take sides, and in fact, recuses itself.

Maybe we should keep our team of ALPA National lawyers and negotiators on board for all of the sections of the contract but one...section 1:Scope.

For this vitally important section, perhaps we should simply retain independent council. It would get everyone off the hook and remove the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Just sayin'

Not everyone agrees with you (now THERE'S a surprise). I have a close friend who is a 737 Captain over there and he has very mixed feelings regarding them turning down the previous offer...

PG;
Hindsight is always 20/20 and you never know until you are past the moment. That hold true for agreeing and realizing you left some at the table or holding strong and then watching the economy tank.

All you can do is take an educated guess when it is time for a decision and not look back on what if.

They made the correct decision at the time, imo. The changes to their work rules would have cost them a lot of money. I am not sure if many of them see that or just remember the pay change.
