Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
That's the question of the decade - How good is good enough? I would love to get a contract in place, on time, with good improvements (as was said earlier - either the West Coast Offense or singles and doubles analogy) and not swing for the fences).
What is good enough for everyone?

DeltaNet says it's going to be down for about 30 mins.

I've heard from several sources that Anderson wants this contract done and dusted by 1 Jan 2012. He would like nothing more than to be fully integrated and labor issues resolved while the other players are still squabbling and not realizing the synergies of a merger. That would put us, as in Delta, in the cat bird seat.
The question is, will we as a pilot group have the ability to take an offer quickly, realizing it's good but not "full restoration" in order to position our company for greater gains in the future? This goes along with what ACL has been talking about, incremental gains. Or will this group vote down a good contract with the attitude that there must be more on the table?

Question for you NYC guys. Other than a taxi, what is the best way to get from LGA to JFK and about how much time should I allow for the trip. Also, where is flt ops/crew lounge etc. in JFK. Thanks
Just finished a 4 day last night... I'll be back to my old self for this week, not sure about next month though.
Why, you ask?
Because every sim period I have is an A period except for 3 B periods in the 400 series.

This is all a matter of opinion and I will give you mine. Technically, you can say that a rep only represents the pilots that elect him, i.e. his base. If you want you can even say that the ATL Captain reps only represent the ATL Captains. However, my opinion is that the MEC works best when each rep considers the interests of every pilot in every decision they make....
So my opinion is that regardless of the base or seat you were elected from, every rep needs to consider the interests from number 1 to number 12,000+ in every decision they make. When that breaks down, the MEC breaks down.

The tough nut to crack is an issue like Compass was, where a guy earnestly believes based on objective facts, that we risk making an incorrect decision which harms our pilot group out of inertia and the fact most pilots see the issue as so far below them as to not bothering to learn the facts. Here a Rep taking a stand could make a difference and if only one Rep would have voted in accordance with the wishes of their MEC then it WOULD have made a difference.*
Instead, our MEC called for and got a vote which revealed a split right along pre-merger lines. Arguably it would have been statistically better for unity for a few f-DAL Reps to cross the line and vote with their pilots.
* Based on the resolutions passed in every Counsil except NYC.
So what then happens when that throw off cash is used to pay down debt?... which RA has stated is a priority for DAL. It sounds like that bodes not well for future contract improvements.
FtB;
This is a point I wanted to make last night, but opted to hit the rack instead.
What Alfa is stating makes a lot of sense for the current conditions. The companies financial health and outlook will change greatly this year much less 2011 and beyond. I do not think that at this time anyone can state X will not be achievable.

I can... I'll betcha a steak dinner we won't see C2K payrates.
A lot of things that I have constantly pointed out need to happen one way or another to determine the viability of ANY proposal. A percentage below C2K, C2K as a benchmark or otherwise.
Alfa is wise in pointing out many of these things. He's been there, but this company is about to morph in to something we have all been waiting more for many moons. Lets wait and see what that is before we paint ourselves in to one idea or direction. Time is on our side. We need to start formulating our proposal soon, but it is OK to have a few drafts sitting on the table.
