too long so I shrunk it:

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Southwest Airlines Co. said Thursday it swung to a first-quarter profit as recovering demand and higher ticket prices more than offset a jump in fuel costs.

Earned $11M vs $91M loss last year, $24M earned excluding one-time items, operating revenue rose 11.6% to $2.6B, modest improvement in demand for business travel measured by full-fare traffic, strong LF and yield trends have continued in April and assuming trend continues they expect another significant yoy unit revenue gain in 2nd quarter 2010, shares $13.60, growing evidence air traffic and particular business travel growing after 18 months in decline, revenue passenger miles rose 1.1% from last year, capacity decreased 6.4%, load factor therein went from 69.9% to 75.9%, average passenger fare climbed nearly 10%, offsetting SWA fuel bill up 17.6% to $821M, resulting in 14.4% increase in CASM and 9.8% excluding fuel.

Full-fare traffic? 10% increase in passenger fare? CASM increase? I thought this was THE low-cost carrier?

Unhappy

Does anyone have the latest rumors about the next bid or movement of aircraft. I was anticipating (or hopeing for) sooner than later. I think the NY 7ER catagory is getting a little to rough with all the domestic trips and 7am reports out of LGA.

It might be time for me to get out.

Thanks,

It is a little more complicated than that. RJET could not pull that with Skyteam as it is currently structured. They could fly for them, but NONE of their passengers could connect on an itinerary to a DAL coded flight. We limit Air Carriers and RJET is that. Make Skyteam a airline with a code, and it is its own air carrier. We all become contractors. That was my angle.

Early part of May. (read first week to first part of the next week)

Little bit of movement. Partial to fill CVG ER pull down. May see more 88'/90 positions in msp
Maybe an Airbi in ATL.

Few other things, but why spoil it?

Nope, actually DAL needs to competition in ATL, and AAI is a decent competitor. If we bought them, we would need to give up a good portion of their gates, and we all know who would want em. It would cost too many jobs and there needs to be competition in ATL to keep the regulators happy.

Read above. EV and SW are no different if the structure of Skyteam is changed. The only difference is that AS has its own section of the PWA as a marketing agreement, SK and EV fall under the DCI categories of flying. Oh and yeah EV does not own their code, DAL does.

Joe, did they let you back in?

They can't as they do not have exclusivity with Delta Management. It could be written but it would limit SKW management or the DCI holding at best, but not DAL airlines.

Skyteam does not get revenue from the airlines involved. It distributes the revenue that the airlines earn.
Delta's scope prevents much of what has been mentioned here. It would not matter if ASA joined sky team. They could not feed Delta which would reduce their value to skyteam. In addition Delta's agreement with Skyteam gives them veto authority over new members. If fact for all intents and purposes Delta is Skyteam. They are the biggest boy and on the block and have more control over Skyteam then any other airline in the alliance. Delta brought AirFrance/KLM into Skyteam not the other way around.
As currently structured you are correct. I do not argue that. What has been discussed is a change in what Skyteam once foreign ownership is allowed. That is the point.
Of course none of that can happen today as ASA, RJET and SKW are all air carriers and D-ALPA's PWA prohibits this sort of thing with an air carrier. Our PWA is the controlling document of our code.

Going forward, a Skyteam code where we become a contractor of the skyteam code much like EV, OH, XJ and the like are now. That was the point. It was forward looking. (10 years)

Default From the guys over at Airliners.net

Yesterday DL submitted a filing to the DOT asking to delay new China flights planned for 2010 for another year.

SEA-PEK delay start from 6/15/10 to 6/15/11
ATL-PVG delay start from 9/1/10 to 9/1/11

Don't have the link to the DOT filing, but the summary is listed here Daily Airline Filings - The Airline Regulatory Information Hub and subscribers can access the article.
