Assuming the legal concerns are common, explain the difference between DAL manuals and training. Also explain why flying differently than you train helps that argument. I'll take your response off the air if you prefer, otherwise I'll lend you a shovel
Legal concerns are common, of course, but the focus and priority are different here at DAL. Why? It is and that is the way they have taken it.

As for the last paragraph:
I fly the way I am trained. I train and am checked the way I fly. If anything needs to be changed it is the way the 100 series in Initial qual is run. After that, it is as I state. (In my experience)
Be more specific.

Default Wow

A friend of mine said this thread is still going! I had to check it out. Holy Crap, that's awesome! I just got back from a "ground job" rotation to Kandahar AB. Starting back at Delta this week. I'm displacing back to the 88. Looking forward to being a lineholder. As a commuter, I have decided to chase quality of life.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Cheers!

Sorry I put 401C that was a mistake, looking at some other stuff on my side of things and that was on my mind, should have said 415C

I know I am one that like to have as much money in a tax deferred account as possible. I know I would put at much as I could there since these types of payments are taxed at a much higher rate if they are paid to you in the form of a bonus check.

That said, I know many would want the cash.

So lets talk about this. How could we have the option of putting it in a 415C et al but allow pilots the option to take the cash instead. I am stumped, but I would like to give them that option. I guess we could have two options on what the payment is called to get around the goose and gander issues with said payments.
Thoughts?
Can't do it. As Slow correctly pointed out, if there is a choice, then it is an elective deferral under the plan and subject to the lower 401(k) limitation.

You started one hell of a thread Guard Dude! It's survived hiring, a merger, football seasons, good AEs, bad AEs, joint AEs and collegiate cheerleader picture days! Congrats and welcome back.

a 1% bump in DC contribution a year, plus this, and I may actually get to retire at 55.

The fact that the federal government is studying the idea of forcing ERISA qualified pensions to buy annunities from the Federal Government makes me not want to put all my retirement money in tax deferred accounts.

I figured as much, and because of that I beleive that the pilots should have a direct say in where the money would go. Most want a check and if that is what the majority want then we should honor that. I will take the tax hit of of a check that is our portion of the revenue from a JV and invest it post tax. Either way I want this group to get a portion of the revenue that is generated for DAL with these JV's. If I have to pay tax on it so be it.

I hate taxes more. I get where you are going, but it they pull this off, there will be a revolt. There is enough money in tax deferred retirement account to pay of a good chunk of our national debt. That is my money.
