Notes from Kool-Aid-R-Delta 2010:

SD-

Adopt and go was a success for the purpose of gaining SOC, now the 350 tabled items have been prioritized and will be worked out in the coming months/years. Checklist construction and briefing aids are first up.

Still looking for 787 resolution from boeing.

All the international fleet will get lie flat in the near term except the 330- that is last on the list since it is the newest.

Winglets will be put on everything that can take it.

22 75/76 in desert- evaluating bringing them out of the desert. 15 757s, 6 or 7 767-300, 3 767-300ERs. Also looks like all 5500 series 757s will be staying.

747-400- last year projected fleet count for 2011 was 8. Now that has been revised up to the full compliment with the mx spares (14+2)

brilliant decision not to furlough- has allowed us to recapture revenue much quicker than any carrier that furloughed.

no decision on hiring yet- final decision will be made in 3-4 weeks after 2011 fleet plan firmed up.

base realignments- 2 year process, priorities have changed as the economy has improved (shocker!)

Guam- tabled for another year. JAL has given the 757 a new lease on life in the pacific (that's for you, ferd!). JAL would ahve depressed out earnings significantly.

CVG ER- no final decision, but next bid will probably start the pull down of it. Need at least 1 more international destination out of CVG to justify the base... unlikely. Off to SEA the time will go... 767 goes west, 330 will move east.

IROPs- crew tracking needs big technology improvement- working with IT for a solution.

Flight/Duty time rules from the FAA have been pushed back to at least Sept as of last week.

AE- once network sets ASMs for the next year, then we can put out the bid. We're within 10 days of that decision. Potential Cx of some training and will be a positive bid. Reinstatements from the last bid will be less than 100 though.

767 ATL category for the short term will not be fully phased out- CVG/SEA swap first... then SLC 767 category will be next for eval, then ATL.

MD90- would like to get fleet up to 40 to 60- running cost analysis for acquisition. Looks like they will be growth planes. DC-9-50's in the fleet plan for at least the next 5 years.

76-124 seat jet- still a paper plane... nothing firm anywhere. 88/90 have very low ownership costs and we can afford to lug around the extra seats with how cheap they are to own.

We are 50% hedged.

MAC charters and charters- head of charters came over from NWA... not satisfactory so far. possibly charters will be handed over to flight ops instead of marketing.

Rumor was not true on the company approaching ALPA for a pay raise for scope sellback.

And then....

Awesome, looks like the Delta N is contributing to growth!! Sure glad ALL of our relative seniority went up together.

IROPs- crew tracking needs big technology improvement- working with IT for a solution. YEAH.

Flight/Duty time rules from the FAA have been pushed back to at least Sept as of last week. Is that announcement of the rule changes or implementation?

And then....

Nope, just like in life you have to learn to take everyone one person at a time.

Notes from RA today:

- reforcasting RASM up in the double digits. 1B in additional revenue this year.

- Cash building very strong:
have to get balance sheet in shape, cutting capital expenditures and paying down debt, current fleet size allows us to grow 2-3% the each year the next 3 years, all planes will come out of the desert. have to make do with what we have.

- ops- we are no longer in shrink mode. up YOY 1-2%....we actually cut too much last fall.

- Huge amount of mod lines going on the aircraft as previously talked about.

- no final call on hiring yet... reiterted previously stated timeframe for the last call.

- No narrowbody order for at least 18 months. We're in a weird spot with Boeing and Airbus promising new super efficient narrowbodies, but yet thye dont exist yet....so we just need to ride it out to ensure we make the right call.

- This makes MD90s very important. Need 60 and can rely upon those to carry us over.

- 50seat Regionals still need to come down further. They made the thing fly too far for it's size and scale of efficiency. They have a place in the fleet, but as TP replacements and stage lengths under 500 NM. Will park as leases come up.

- widebody fleet is in good shape. We have 147 now and can flex that up to 167. Very good size. We'll be converting more 757s to ETOPs.

- Extending leases on all 744s- operate full compliment in 2011.

- 787- substantial impasse with boeing. We made them whole in bankruptcy and they didnt lose a dime. They owe us money.... we expect to be paid.

-PARS was the original plan for res system with the merger, but DL runs SAP biz system on all the computers which is much more up to date, and a patch for PARS to run on an SAP system was not working. Had to settle on Deltamatic... running fixes on it now to make it a better system.

- updating tech is a huge priority. They know there are many many problems and are fixing them ASAP.

- JFK- we now own T4. Now have to finish negotiations with the port authority. Will nuke T3, renovate T2, and extend the fingers of T4 all the way out to the remote pad. No more people eaters in JFK!

- Alliances- China Eastern is a high prioirty. Much better deal than JAL and will be the optimum codeshare in asia to have a china partner. We will now have good codeshars everywhere.

- JAL/ANA will likely merge now...

Go ahead priorities: Generate revenue, update technology, finish cultural/representation integration amongst work groups.

more to come...

Wow, according to the Assignment/Green slip report, there sure were a lot given out in March. This summer should be exciting, or something like that.
