HA! Yours are always legit.

The one you quoted was not. It was just flamebait.

But kudos for bringing up the astronaut in diapers story.

Default RA and LC meeting

Here are some of the things heard today:
-We will post a profit in 2010
-$1.3 billion spent on Capital Expenditures as opposed to $2.8-3.0 billion per year. Means we will use the difference to beef up pensions and pay down debt.
-We want 60 MD-90's
-Once we have 40 or so MD-90's, all M88 pilots will be qualified on MD-90
-Airtran has dipped to 170 departures in ATL. Down from 270
-We will be getting VERY, VERY close to Alaska. No, not a merger, just a very close relationship at all stations. ie they will be moving to our gates.
-China Southern and Eastern will be on board soon.
-We are now co-owners of terminal 4 in JFK. Announcement in May about improvements there.
-We ARE bringing the 22 757/767s out of the desert. Not sure of the timeframe but there will be a substantial investment in these a/c to get them ready to fly again.
-He believes ANA and JAL will merge
-Not getting JAL is not a bad thing. We would be writing alot of checks the next 2 years
-narrowbody order not before 18 months
-All 747-400s have renewed their leases
-Many RJs will be parked as they come off leases
-Very frustrated with Obama Administration and their "hands on" approach to the de-regulated airline industry. ie LGA/DCA swap, healthcare
-We are looking at some changes to health care coverage next year. Not alot was said about this but he mentioned a need to keep costs down by having DAL select doctors for certain procedures
-He hopes UAL and USAirways get together. Consolodation is good for the industry right now. He sees 3 airlines eventually in Europe.
-3 goals in 2010: Improve IT, Maximize revenue from synergy, and finalize the remaining labor issues.
-GUM is off...for now
-No international bases
-Lay flat coming to A330 eventually

I'm sure I am forgetting some, but maybe someone else can fill in the gaps.

[quote=TANSTAAFL;794655]
Urban myth - you had a large cast of handlers and operatives, they just weren't officially part of the mix. Again why dredge up the past to cast a negative light on the pre-merger NWA MEC? To what end? It's over and we've moved on. Reenacting the civil war serves no purpose.
Urban myth, really? That's pretty funny.

My whole point was to demonstrate that the method the NWA MEC used to heal their divisions was to create a new dragon to slay. You can't understand how to fix your problems unless you understand where they came from. If you are trying to say there weren't deep divisions in your pilot group and in your MEC when this process started then you just are not being serious. You yourself mentioned the hard feelings some North guys have and if you don't recognize the part your former MEC played in creating those hard feelings then you are really not being serious.

I am not looking for blame, I am looking for acknowledgment of where the problem started and how it has to get fixed. There is no outside observer that would look at the communications from each MEC in 2008 and notice the stark differences in the tone and level of animosity in them. If you can't acknowledge that fact then there is probably no hope of change.

You seem like you have a grudge to nurse since you didn't get the results you wanted in the Neg Cmte elections. Seems to me all your posts are sour-grapes that there is a new MEC with different ideas and a different direction they are taking, and you and others are not having quite the blank check you were hitherto used to. Get over it and move on.
It seems like you are the one stuck on Neg Cmte elections, I didn't mention it in my post. I guess you missed my post praising the new committee members. My only problem was the insistence of 2+2 that only fosters the idea of identity politics. I also took exception to the turmoil that seemed well timed to precede the elections that led to this. Get over the N/S labels and move on.

My beef is you seem to be intentionally trying to re-create the turmoil of the SLI period when everyone else on the MEC and most of the pilots have gotten past it. Creating divisiveness by accusing others of doing so while claiming the high ground is as old as ALPA.
It is funny that this whole mess gets stirred up by others and I am the one starting it because I point out the shenanigans. Bizarro world.

I will make a deal. If you can get your "friend" who is a rep to get some number of fNWA reps to make a clear statement that this duty rigs grievance is not worth pursuing and is being handled properly by CA then I will believe you are moving to the high ground. As long as you let this boil fester, I don't believe you are truly trying to move on.

BTW, I heard from a friend who attended the C20 Special Informational Meeting today, and was told Chairman Moak made an informative presentation, did a lot of Q & A and that it was very well received and took a lot of notes for action.
Wait, I thought you hated the Moakastration? Maybe Lee doesn't have quite as many horns as were painted on him in the last two years. I have known Lee for many years now, I have no doubt he did a good job.

Those must have been some wild assumptions....
Wild indeed, but sure gets the wheels spinning. I believe acl asked if he could provide some numbers. I just spoke with my ER bud, but I will ask him in our next convo if he can provide some interesting tip numbers. Truly it makes one think about how little we are paid. Hold that thought and I will return.

P.S. AVATAR: I'm embarassed that my ankles are showing. I will look for a more flattering picture. LOL

Okay, so if we are now co-owners of terminal 4 are we back to tearing down 3 and connecting terminal 2 to 4 via the saucer?

If so, that to me is huge and good. Terminal 4 is an awesome terminal and really knocking out terminal 3 but leaving the saucer is a heck of a lot easier and faster than building on top of 2 & 3. And we need the ramp space.
---
And so now I am committed to the MD88/90 until I retire. Which, they should still be here in 33 years.
