Nu,
I'm not trying to stir the pot but I guess that's what I'm doing by asking the following.
Is this (the above quote) not what you are advocating except from a different viewpoint? Are you saying we should move to the old NWAlpa way of doing things? I would not be a fan of that.

The next push will be the MEC officer elections in August. Look for another manufactured outrage starting in June or July. They will stir up disunity and then demand that the only way to unify the pilot group is to give into the demands of the "north" reps.
By using the politics of personal destruction, the north reps are forcing the entire Delta MEC to bend to their will. They will continue to foster the persecution complex amongst the "north" pilots as long as they get their way. I have never seen a bunch of guys who got better work rules, better retirement, and a 20% raise in less than 2 years have such feelings of persecution.

Tell me honestly, have you ever MET a north guy you liked? Or have you ever attempted to make a positive post on here? Just say'en The reason I ask is, I haven't see "politics of personal destruction" used in print in at least a decade.

We are moving to the old NWALPA way of doing things. All along the way, there have been manufactured crises and outrage and it continues to this day. The "north" reps are experts at stirring up feelings of outrage and betrayal by trashing the "south" reps and especially Lee Moak. The current push is to get committee members elected by the MEC so the "north" guys can reestablish their petty personal fiefdoms like their old MEC did. They started with the negotiating committee by insisting that they have 4 members with a "2 and 2" split. I guess half the negotiating committee represents me and the other half represents the "north" guys, wow that sounds like a great work environment to me.

Didn't the N reps vote unanimously for another S Negotiating Committee Chairman? As I understand it the S reps have a numerical advantage in senatorial votes, so they only could have gotten 4 negotiators with the S reps support. Also interesting is the only MEC Chairman candidates I have heard discussed as viable by N reps in the fall are all S.
All reports I got from my reps was that the MEC reps were working very well together despite the heavy handed arm twisting and manipulation by administration handlers and operatives. The most disgusting thing I heard was that these individuals were planting seeds of mistrust and doubt among reps who had hitherto been working side by side as colleagues to the end of getting "their" man and way on the negotiating committee.
The only fiefdoms I see are the ones of the administration with it's anointed committee chairs that are beholden to the MEC chairman for their place at the flight pay loss tit.
You foster disunity and divisiveness while accusing others of the same. Shame on you.
Now go back to doing bed checks on who is doing what in their personal time and dime.
Alfa........maybe, just maybe we're just tired of being ignored. Who knows, I don't do union bidness at all. I just know bidness ain't too good right now for us.

I can not speak for him, but I have meet many many North guys that I would LOVE to share a cockpit with. We are very similar.
I also know that not ALL of the North reps are trying to stir the pot, just for the sake of it. They are bringing issues up that need to be brought up! . There are a few that I am very impressed with.
This North-South stuff makes me want to quote Lincoln or watch North and South!
Ferd, I am very glad you are back. Keep posting and tell Carl to get off the golf course.

Luckily most of us don't have an agenda other than max pay and QOL and will hopefully come together and marginalize those with other agendas. If not we'll end up stratefied (senior, junior, widebody, narrowbody, nobody, purple book, orange book, the good book) with special interest groups running the show and a miserable place to work.
FWIW, Payrates dont show the whole picture. For some reason alot of the S guys just look at the payrates. We gained in pay rates but lost in other areas. Gotta look at big picture

We certainly get more time at home but that doesn't pay the bills. Just trying to put things in perspective.
