Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
As a 20 year FA for DAL, my wife has never been much of a union supporter. She is now. I'm guessing here, but I think this bidding system is really ticking her off. There is absolutely no accountability for what goes down. When she calls them on it, they just reply, "Oh, well you must have just bid incorrectly." Then when all the bids are done, they just tack on an extra trip to her sked. Happens to her all the time. When she puts in to pick up a trip, occasionally it will be a completely different trip when it is put on her line. I could go on, but you get the point.
I get the point. I want them to make the best choice for their group. I know how I would side but that is just me. They as a group need to come to a consensus and then move forward. I hope that is possible.

Has anyone heard about next AE?
If it is indeed in May we should get a memo anytime. I heard from a fellow pilot of a CVG ER closure and SEA ER openning.
??
Thx.

Have a good friend (practicing international law) whose wife was bored and decided to go be an FA for jetblue. She's sitting airport standby surfing the web and a youngish FO comes up behind her couch and says, "You know you could be working on your education while you are here, there are a lot of online colleges you could be taking classes toward getting your college degree, instead of just sitting around. In fact, ERAU has a great online learning program you could look into."(sorry to all those ERAUs who might get offended)
Her reply, "So what should I do with the 2 bachelor's and 1 master's I already have from UNC-Chapel Hill? Maybe you should be working on a second degree and not worry about me so much."
On a slightly different note:
We should leave the FA's to their own decision making skills, there are enough intelligent ones that can think for themselves.....
How many times do you hear the CA's brief the A-Line:
"If you want someone off, think we need to get a pax medical attention, let me know. I will back you 100%."
We trust their calls on what happens in the cabin, we should trust their judgment when it comes to their own working conditions.
Lets just say the AE "should" be out in the next two to three weeks. (What I was told when I called.)
Funny story:

Many FA's are better educated than many pilots. The reason they are there varies, but generally it is because they want to do something different and money is generally not a deciding factor.
BTW, ERAU has some good programs, but their MBA is not one I would get. It is not of the highest accreditation.
Shiz, ha, it's funny when people who assume like that get their butts handed to them. But in the same respect you and I both know an airline pilot who had a phd and an accomplished background so she also needs to be careful about assuming too. But generally people who are accomplished don't assume ime.
I used to fly at Coex with an NYPD cop as my FA. He was pursuing an acting career and wanted the flexibility and travel benefits that came with the job.
Anyways I'm not trying to pick for DAL FAs but if I were them, I'd make any suitor squirm and beg before i'd vote and I'd be suspicious of a union waiting for card check to pass, if that is what the afa is doing. Plenty of unions have come to power without it. To me there are three choices right now, AFA, inhouse union or nothing. Their call, but I stick to my premise that given the large size and nature of the work there are benefits... just make sure the agent works for the employee and not the other way around.

FTB is there much difference in AFA waiting for a change in the rules (IMHO long overdue) and a company doing a merger knowing that perhaps the administration is more friendly towards the transaction than the next administration?

The crew planner guys were in the LAX ops yesterday. They didn't tip their hand much as it was billed as an opportunity to listen to LAX guys concerns and answer questions. I wasn't there, flying again, whuddathunkit, but the SEA ER vs. CVG ER was discussed. The Guam base idea wasn't warm. It was mentioned but not with much gusto. Reading the tea leaves, it looks like the May AE will be pretty much closing CVG ER, opening SEA, and some other, smaller clean up actions.
