Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

I doubt it. Planning for profits with $86 a barrel. It's around that now, and it will most likely take a lot more then that to stop hiring. It's going to be a long summer with not enough bodies, and I don't know if GS will cover it. They might, until wx hits. Then it'll hit the fan. JMO

We are not going to sell the 100 seat flying. There is no 1113 motion hanging over our heads and no one at the company believes they can get that from us. Having said that as I have said before there is also not going to be a 100 seat aircraft buy. Delta simply does not want a 100 seat aircraft in their fleet. They will trot the concept out at roadshows ect... and have been doing that since 1991 when they want to appease the pilots. They are not going to order one however. They will always tell you they are waiting for just the right aircraft. 19 years they have been waiting and there have been lots of aircraft available. They simply have no long term plans for a 100 seat aircraft in the fleet.
There is always going to be a gap between the largest DCI jet and the smallest mainline jet. I would like to see a 120~ seat airframe here as it would work quite well in our network. I know the 319 fits that billet but I was referring to a clean sheet design in that seat range.

My wife says "she could give a **** if they don't hire - as long as they don't furlough".
Well - I don't quite agree -more people under me is better, and growth is good for everyone.
I don't have any sources (other than the people here) on whether we're going to hire or not. My opinion is that we'll need to - the economy seems like it's about to take off. Planes are starting to get fuller, and all that pull-down on the international will start to return. That, plus the benefits of the merger will really start to be in effect this summer and fall. I think those benefits will result is more opportunities for Delta - which will mean hiring.

I'm hoping SEA will return to its once bustling hub so some of the commuters who lost their base will get the heck out of my base (SLC). Selfish? Perhaps.

I know, but that doesn't mean were aren't hedged. Although I think on our last hedge contracts we lost our shirt, so they may have decided not to hedge this time around. Again, it is a closely guarded secret until the contracts expire.
