Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
It was an interesting time in Delta history.
The beginning of the end of the "Delta family". Something called Leadership 7.5 had been going on (brutal cost-cutting to make up for Allen's colossal PanAm blunder).
Another real piece of work named Harry Alger running Flight Ops.
Incompetence and personal vendettas everywhere. The jumpseat was just a pawn in the larger game.

!" I can see by your post, that you WERE there! Man
If memory serves, DALPA got the jumpseat with POS '96. (Fecal Fragment, Contract '96). LOTS given...pay, Sunshine/Express...tokens received. Some did well, especially the pre-'72 pilots...sweetheart deal related to their retirements. Additionally, BIG BID was to solve all our/pilots' problems. Didn't quite work out that way. (Two of the three negotiators were SENIOR, and not long for DAL.)
And as Check said above, it was personal for "So Be It" ra.

Regarding the 744 compensation airframes:
Bastian said at a In Command meeting that Boeing has made a $200M cash payment to Delta for 787 deficiencies/delays. I'm sorry but the more 744s rumor is not true. We will not see more of those airframes, ever. Fuel is going back up and it burns 2x a 777 and about 3x what a 787 does. The company is deathy afraid oil is gonna hit $140/bbl again.

ID90/ZED ticketing question
How do you buy a ID90/ZED on an interline carrier here at Delta?
I went to the ticket counter at MSP. They told me to come back after I set a reservation over 1-800-MYDELTA. However, I can't find any such option on 1-800-MYDELTA. Is there a way to do that online in travelnet? (Under the old NWA system, you could set up the confirmation number over the phone or on-line and just pay and pick it up at any counter).
I would imagine you can walk up to any counter and buy it.

The ZED agreement chart in travelnet has the phone numbers for all of carriers you can get a ZED on. Call the number there, then go to a Delta ticket counter at the airport to pick up and pay for the ticket. It works great! I've sent my parents on several ZED fares before.

I believe the MSP ticket counter people were all wrong. As far as I know, say you want to travel on Air India (just an example).
The information on TravelNet says:
SELF TICKETING- Purchase at any Delta ticket counter upon presentation of Delta ID (or proper identification) for eligible family members.
LISTING: Listing made with Air India: US: 1-212-xxx-xxxx // Intl: Check local listing Also see: Welcome To AirIndia
So - you amble over to the Delta ticket counter, say you want to buy a Zed fare on Air India from JFK-Delhi. They punch in your info, ask where you want to go, tell you the fare, take the payment and print out the tickets. They print out the tickets and say, "next customer".
Then, you call Air India (or whatever airline you're going on) at the appropiate number and list yourself with them.
Then - when you show up at the Air India ticket counter, you present the Zed Fare tickets and tell them about your listing.
If you go into TravelNet, there is a whole section on Interline travel, with handy charts for each airline we have an agreement with. It explains all the stuff, and how to list yourself with each carrier. (for example, Air France is a website, Air India is a phone number and extension).

You're trying to non-rev on another airline that we have an agreement with? (I'm just asking to get the facts straight).

Freightguy, I had the same problem trying to buy them in Memphis. Ended up wasting an hour getting a runaround from the MEM ticket counter people and eventually just gave up. Tried later at a pre-merger Delta ticket counter in Columbia SC and everything went smoothly exactly as IAflyer said it should.
