Among your defined group are pilots who fought against the policy of the Comair MEC (like me), those who were hired after Lawson left, and current Delta pilots (who might be on their way to work, or working for you in your right seat). The problem with your grouping is that "they all look the same."
... and the worst sin committed was to try to use Delta's furloughed pilots as bargaining chips. Lawson asked the Delta MEC for help, the Delta MEC told him "no, this isn't a negotiation." Lawson replied in kind. I don't like that either, but it IS THE DELTA MEC's JOB to protect the Delta pilots, not Comair's. The Delta MEC could have simply sidestepped the Comair MEC and worked this out with the owners of Comair, DELTA.*
Holding on to bigotry illustrates a lack of knowledge, lack of objectivity and poor judgment. I'm not talking about you, because you are smarter than that.

The fact that this was "just Lawson", of course, is the weakest of all possible excuses. If guys at Comair thinks we don't see through their "failures" to muzzle him, they are mistaken. We see right throught their explanations, and what we see is lust for our seats, and disdain for our pilots.
So you're stuck making emotional apeals, to our sense of decency, etc. The truth is, this does not hinge on our feelings, but on their actions: they have proven to be unreliable partners. So unreliable as to be hostile, and downright dangerous.
As proof that I can look beyond a single event, I don't view ASA the same way, despite the fact the RJDC was also supported there. Comair sealed the deal when they went after furloughees. I was held hostage to their lawsuit once, and to their lobbying against our furloughees the second time around.
And I just got a fresh Stockholm Syndrome vaccine booster.
No apologies needed man. We're all in this fight together. And believe me when I say this, I get what you're saying and I too want the best contact we can get. I do want to see this company succeed as well. And I apologize for the gramps comment.
Anyone in the know want to comment on validity of following I heard on my last trip:
1. Goal of DAL is in the neighborhood of 50 777s by 2016
2. 10 more 747-4s coming in next year and a half due to 787 delay..there were other aircraft in this payment for delay but i don't remember the exact numbers
3. One of our DCI carriers, out of the 13 million outstanding DCI carriers, will be opening a DFW base to feed increase in flying out of there. AF may bring back the international flight out of there too and (drumroll)....Delta to ASIA out of DFW? maybe done via DFW to LAX or SEA though.
4. Hiring 400 to start in the fall.
5. Delta has made their order for the 100 seater.

By the way, I want to fly that 744 so bad I would give up my left N*t for it. Anyone of you 744 Captains need another left N*t? Just wondering.

The rumors are great but try and put a little thought. We are going to be given 10 747-400's because 18 787's are late? I find that a bit hard to believe. We might get a good deal on those airframes but no way are they going to give them to us!
Probably not all of them, but the penalties are quite large.
Be careful what you're willing to give to fly a larger aircraft. The company may just hold you to your word during "contract negotiations".

Stupid question ...
Trying to think out of the box for a little bit (yeah, dangerous I know).
Would it be smart or stupid to negotiate into the contract the following:
Any pilot who is mandatory displaced out of base, will have at his/her option the ability to reserve a company positive space seat for the purposes of commuting on the front/back end of any rotation?
