OK, still not seeing this correctly. If assigned a day of short call from 0300 to 1500 you are on technically on duty for that 12 hour time period - FAA wise.

...must be promptly available for contact by Crew Scheduling during his short call period until the earlier of:
1) the end of the short call period, or
2) this departure to report for an awarded/assigned rotation.
You are not on the hook to answer the phone from 1500-2400, right?
Where does it say that a short call pilot becomes a long call pilot at the moment that short call ends? Your long call day starts at 1201 the next day..

Whats the deal with reserve and recurrent? I bid reserve to get weekends off. They threw recurrent in there. Looked like I lost two days off then a note popped up with the return of two X days per an Alpa agreement. Now my credit only shows 65:20 instead of 70.
I've actually never had recurrent yet. I just keep switching airplanes.....

The can no longer pro-rate your X days due to not beleive available due to recurrent. If gives you those days back. LOA-20.
It added about 3600 extra days off per year for reserve pilots
About 200 reserve lines a year!

you don't lose any pay. Look at your timecard and you will see that you are actually going to be paid more than 70 hrs for the month. Your reserve credit was reduced by 1/30th for each day of recurrent (roughly 2.9 hrs or so) and you get a pay no credit of 3:15 for each day of recurrent.

This is the one thing that I really like about mainline... sports fans. I seriously had the hardest time at my previous regional airline getting the guys to change the channel, in IAH, from the TBS movie of Saturday afternoon or the Lifetime rerun movie on Sunday afternoon when football was on. I'd never thought that so many dudes would want to watch old movie channels on football day!

Maybe so, but that does not equate to 200 more pilot positions.

Not saying it does, just stating that those days divided by 18 days of reserve per pilot per month equates to 200 reserve lines system wide.

So I had cq in march after the loa was signed and still lost a day off. I know it's kinda a transition month for the loa but still think I should get a day off in my bank. Hopefully, I'll get a free day at some point.

I don’t know if anyone posted this or not. It was sent to my DAL S FA wife in an AFA attempt to explain why the DAL N has filed a grievance. I don’t agree with the guy, but then that’s just my opinion. It seems like his entire divisive preface is built around the pilot group being two completely separate groups. He states that because the 744 and the 777 have fences, we still have two separate pilot groups meaning we still have NWA’s pilots, therefore the DAL N FA’s should only work with DAL N (NWA’s) pilots. I think DAL management should give them exactly what they want. They can only fly the 744 and then furlough the rest of them. I understand and completely concur that a scope clause is extremely important to prevent outsourcing of jobs. Maybe I’m missing something here, but does anyone see DAL outsourcing their jobs here? Exactly what jobs are they trying to protect? Do they not understand that they will be flying DAL S routes and equipment as well as their own? Where exactly is the outsourcing they are crying about? I just don’t get it.
By the way, I was thinking the A330 and 767-400 had a fence as well. I would have to look back through the SLI agreement to check it. My memory ain’t what it used to be. Ha
