Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

Thank you, thank you...thank you!!!!....Alfaromeo...the voice of reason and of the facts....You should be in an ALPA leadership position!...Maybe you are..(I hope).
I don't know if others on this thread have been following this little controversy, but they should. NuGuy's attitude reflects the typical political culture of minority, self interest infighting that is exactly the opposite of what should be in a union.
Nuguy...you didn't dispute one iota of Alfa's discription of the facts in this dispute, you only respond with technicality-justified, essentially emotional, narrow interest "facts", and you do so in a most disgustingly cynical way...(Boy Scouts?). And you do so with absolutely no...zero..."0"..."goose-egg" concern for the long-term interests of the whole group... Nuguy,... ad hominem attacks are the last resort of a failed argument....You sir, to use a technical phrase...have been "handed your A$$" in this argument, -factually, logically, and especially on "style points"...give it up...."take a knee!"
Alfa...go to a neutral corner, this is a TKO....Great job!!!

Nice dig on the Northside MEC before you edited it out. Pot, meet kettle.
But, since you were nice enough to edit your post, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and just say that this is YOUR version of leadership is NOT appropriate here. Maybe in the squadron, or as the executive at some corporation, where you have been put in that position by some higher authority.
But in THIS case, our leadership is there for one reason, and one reason only, and that is to execute the will of the pilot group.
I'll let that sink in with you...
"Taking the temperature of the situation and adjusting your principles to fit the swaying winds" or "pandering to the masses", as you called it (which, by the way, is a colossal insult to every pilot on this property) is what's called actually listening to the people who put you in that position (oh, and pay your FPL while they're at it). If you don't like how the winds are blowing, then you are free to step aside, and allow the pilot group to put someone in that position to KNOWS why they are there.
I'm certainly glad that the MEC saw it that way. Huge world shift, IMHO, and one that didn't go unnoticed.
Sorry your world view went by the wayside. Muster up some folks and get some reps that think like you elected. That's how the system works. fNWA pilots are known for their engagement in the process rather than giving into "groupthink". I KNOW my council is involved. Half the candidates for the negotiating committee were from 20.
Seems a good time to use the catch-phrase for the merger: "It is what it is."
As for Wiggys comments "technicality-justified"
Um, "technicality justified" is still justified. It's what we, in the real world, call due process, or in ALPAspeak, "Duty of Fair Representation". Nothing emotional about it. It was a duly filed grievance that occurred prior to the merging of the two MECs.
As for "zero concern for the long-term interests of the whole group". You're kidding right? It's called wanting the the few remaining Northside grievances to be heard via due process, and you jump to that? Certainly, if they are as trivial as you suppose, they will be dismissed by the arbitrator in short order.
Now if I was as cynical as you seem to think I am, I would say something along the lines of "the leadership doesn't want this grievance to proceed, because if it prevails, then the Northside pilots are due a substantial amount of money, money that's going to have to come from somewhere, and the Southside guys will think they got an unequal deal". But I'm not quite that cynical....yet.
As for the rest of your little diatribe... Sorry if I don't get all flustered by your Alfa-love fest.

News regarding the 757-5500 series planes...
Someone in TechOps says ship 5523 is currently being painted in ATL in Bay 12. There is talk there is another 5500 series already in Delta colors (rumored to be 5521 but WorldFlight doesn't show that).
Some people are referring to these planes as "high-density" planes. Not sure what that means...increased number of seats? Talk is these planes will be pulled off the bread and butter NW runs from the hubs and used to fly Florida, Vegas and Phoenix from the hubs.
And for an earlier poster on the specifics of the 5500 series: the first 34 NW 757-251's were 5500 series with the small exit door aft of the wing, the same layout as the ex-TWA 757's. The remaining NW 757's, ships 5635 to 5657, have the same dual over-wing exit doors that the DL 757 fleet has.
The 5500 series gets low marks from frequent fliers due to its aged interior. Sidewalls are factory delivered circa-mid 80's, original overhead bins and service consoles.

I knew I was gonna pay for that one. LOL
Spelling and grammar Nazis are never well received. I just couldn't help myself with the "Irregardless" one. I think he took it very well though. As far as the run on sentences and comma splices, I'm not sure I can promise that deal. I can't help myself. HA HA A 00.035 university average down the drain. LOL
