IN RE: AFA and future vote. If the FAs voted the union in, would they have to start from scratch as far as a contract goes or would the NWA FA contract be in effect? If they started from scratch would all the "me too" bennies they have be in jeopardy? Can the Company just say you got nutin', let's negotiate?

Heyas,

But this was only true at NWA for the last couple of years.

NWA Cargo ALWAYS made money in frieght...for decades. In fact, back in the post 9/11 recession, "freight saved our a$$" as one guy said, and in some cases, made up over %20 of the annual corporate income.

But the freight forwarding market changed rapidly when UPS and FEX became the powerhouses they did. Rather than adapting to the change and re-investing in the product, NWA decided to take the easy way out.

The CRJ-700s will also be used to fly existing routes from LaGuardia to Toronto and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., giving passengers in those markets access to First Class service.
Heyas,

Told ya the payback from AMR would commence. The bear has awakened.

I wonder if SWA will act like a sputtering fussbudget and try to horn in on this slot transfer, too.

As an aside, this places the governement in a very interesting spot...they can't exactly let this go down without a comment after all the drama they caused with the DAL/USAir slot transfer.

Wasn't aware of MSP DC9 closing, but it makes sense that with only 34 airframes you don't need three different pilot domiciles.
How many total Pilots in MSP on the DC9?

Yeah I know, huh. I actually tried to get her to go thru Communist Air school down in Florida and then try to get rehired by DAL as a pilot, but we had one in the oven so it never happened. I know two FA's that are now DAL pilots.

Don't you guys love how they still call it deregualation? What a misnomer. We can't even sneeze without DOT, DOJ, FAA, NTSB, Airport Authorities, congress, the pres, senators, etc getting involved. Whether we like it or not, we have been corraled into a completely governed and controlled national transportation system. What I want to know is where is my government pension?

Corrected. Transcript of SFO TCAS event was not what was actually said.

Outside of the multitude of mild TCAS RAs in EWR and HPN, I've had serious ones in DEN. I never could figure out with all that open space how I could have had 3 out there. The worse was as a corporate pilot coming out of DEN Centennial when climbing through 500' a Cirrus, that was told to enter a downwind on a 45, ended up entering a wrong way final opposite to us and started coming down. I wish I could recall what the TCAS said since we were so low, but I do remember my other pilot who was flying dropped the nose and we just stopped climbing.

Unrelated picture below.

They should really tell these plans to all those MSP DC9 pilots who weren't displaced off the DC9 on the last AE!!!
