To DAL330drvr: I hope you're reading this stuff about the DAL N FA's. That's all I was saying my friend. By the way, lets keep this friendly, shall we. I'm on your side, OK?

But the DAL-N flight attendants are now trained on those planes, so they can fly them too. As long as both the pilots and flight attendants are trained on the 767, I don't see why both can't fly them.

Yeah, I do that too. Of course, I'm out the outrageous expense of $7 for a flash drive (tax deductible), but I guess you can't have everything.

Sure beats spending 2 days in the schoolhouse trying not to fall asleep and spending a small fortune on food/beer in the evenings.

Bill, it's because the DAL N FA's are refusing to fly with DAL S pilots. They are apparently saying that their contract prohibits them from flying with anyone but Northwest pilots. What I'm mainly confused about, is what exactly are they trying to accomplish with this blockade?

That's going to be really difficult, since the only aircraft that won't have Delta-S guys is the 747-400 fleet. I'll be flying with Delta-N FA's in a week or so.....

Waves,

I understand that, but now the DAL-N pilots and flight attendants are both trained on the 767. That means, if Delta wanted to put those 767s to DAL-N bases, they could, right? If both DAL-N and DAL-S pilots and flight attendants have had the training, then both can fly that plane, at any base, including DTW and MSP. After the integration of the pilots at all of the bases, how would the DL-N flight attendants know? A DL-S pilot now based in MSP or DTW is now a MSP or DTW based DL pilot, period.

I read complaints from pilots about the loss of the freighters. Not your post, but they are out there. If that operation was making money, why on Earth would they shut it down? Is the assumption there is a deliberate effort to lose money?

It doesn't make sense.

Well, NWA did a good job of running the freight operation into the ground at the end and never did comit to replacing the aging 747-200 freighters. Over the years NWA made a pot full of money off of freight, but in the end they decided to let it die a slow death and the turn down in the economy did not help either. My guess is that at the time of the merger freight was loosing money and the need for new airplanes was way to much for DAL to chew on. I think that there was a missed opportunity, but it was NWA that did the missing not DAL. Sure was nice to not have to deal with pax and FAs. I miss the good old freight dog days.

Is there an easy way to view the future schedule on the dalnet? I'm trying to get an idea of what the flying is going to look like out of MSP on the 88.

I don't think that's the problem. Air France has sold 777F delivery positions and 3 aircraft that were sitting in the desert to FedEx.

Box cargo is even more dependent on cyclical economics than passengers.
