I agree. That's why I only said you were wrong in part. Most of the traveling public make the false assumption that all pilots and all airlines are created equal. Most pilots including many DAL pilots also make a similar false assumption that all FA's are created equal. They aren't.

I understand your angst on the issue, but statistically speaking, you are worried about the wrong group. Management, through greed, stupidity, arrogance, incompetence, ego, inability to adapt, and just plain old incompetence has brought down far more once high flying airlines than flight attendants.
Scoop - Still keeping my fingers crossed on this management team.
PS - And if the flight attendants were to bring down DAL it would only be possible via management incompetence.

Still havent done them. Now that we merged with NWA and they have the mod, they are "talking more strongly" about it, haha.
I never had to do a pole check but had to learn how since I qual'd initially on the 88. That's gotta be the most ghetto procedure I've ever heard at an airline!

It took us MONTHS on the north side to figure out what the heck you guys were doing fiddling with the 757 APU bleed values. Off, unless your doing this, then it's on, unless it's in icing, except on alternate tuesdays during a leap year....
The answer, which they could have told us up front, is that the DAL 757 APU bleeds don't have the "smart" mod, which basically turns them off automatically if there is another bleed source available. Thus the northside procedure was to leave them on all the time.
Of course, we started the right engine first so we could get the ac/heat going sooner, but hey, that falls into the realm of "captain's discretion" now, I guess.
As for the DC-9 "pole", we had yet another solution...we trained the rampers to do it. Call into ops for an "upper wing inspection", and he/she'd come up and say "all clear", and that was done.
As for the center tank pump mod...sheesh, that's been done 5 years now. You guys musta been hiding the plans for that in the 8" floppy disk box that holds the program for DBMS.

As far as my 757 comments, sorry but I haven't flown that aircraft for about 11 years, so sort of out of the loop on it.
Topic seems to be FAs not flying with anyone but NWA pilots. If that is true and if it is also true that we don't have any NWA pilots doesn't that result in FAs(cat ranchers) who can't fly. Therefore we are severely under"manned" in the FA department and we should immediately hire hot young FAs?!!!!

Why the 2x3 to 3x2 seat swap
When we got the first MD-82/-88s, the Douglas instructor told us the aisle had to be "shifted" so it wouldn't be blocked by the large rear galley Delta had purchased. He pointed out that the F/O would have to crawl under a seat to use the gear-inspection periscope.
In training they mentioned the galley was the reason and then linked it to one of the previous CEOs who had to have some sort of signature thing to hang his hat on - personally I would love to have that signature thing be profitability but I guess I'm just crazy that way.
