By the way, I was hired in 87 after the Republic merger. NWA also acted like the superior survivor. I'm just sayin.............................

Welcome to the forum!

Wasn't exactly the welcome I was looking for, but thanks just the same.

1). Sorry, I must disagree with your semantics correction. Just like the Pan Am acuisition, DAL purchased NWA's making it an acquisition, not a merger. It's a moot point, but feel free to call it what you like.
2). You are correct, I personally did not inherit anything, but since I am a DAL pilot I figured I could use the term "we." I guess not.
3). I'm not sure why or how you considered me to be condescending. It wasn't my intention, and still isn't.
4). I was flying the Pacific in the MD-11 long before NWA's was a glimmer in RA's eyes. With the changes in open skies, Fifth Freedom isn't worth 10 cents now. The Pacific was open to DAL anyways, it just wasn't profitable, hence DAL closed it's unprofitable SEA and PDX bases, and cut LAX to the bone.
5). I read every word of the SLI arbitration mediation and it was the NWA's side that brought the superior attitude to the table with their self invented "Super Premium Flying" and their over inflated value of the Pacific and Fifth Freedom Rights. The NWA's FA's are currently doing the same thing. They want to fly DAL equipment and routes, but they are suing DAL to prohibit DAL FA's from flying their equipment. I don't understand this mentality. I don't see us as a superior survivor, I see us all as equal survivors. Apparently the NWA's people don't see it that way.

By the way, I'm still senior to you. LOL

My RAW score this month is 164. Good for you.

The Md-90's and increased utilization of the -50's will mean no net loss of positions and actually may add some positions since the DC9s didnt have high utilization rates.
Thanks for the update. Much better picture than I had painted.

Also, Thanks everybody for the welcome.

Yeah, I've seen lots of posts about IA's and GS's going out lately. I'm surprised that I haven't been called out to cover flying for other bases. I'm not complaining, though - I see this past month as my consolation prize for being displaced from SLC.

Sorry about your displacement. Couldn't you have just jumped on the A320 instead?

I think the 88 has been the lucky airplane.... I flew 1 trip this month (NYC). I have broken 70 hrs one month in the last 2 years and that was because I had vacay

Keep telling yourself that, maybe you'll start to believe it.

That is because of NWA.

I’m not real clear as to the reason why NWA’s people are so hung up on the indisputable fact that DAL purchased NWA which by definition makes it an acquisition and not a merger. Maybe it’s a pride thing of which they are certainly entitled, but this entitlement is also accompanied by denial. I will agree that effectively, it was certainly a merger, but technically it was an acquisition. Either way, it’s a moot point for which I don’t understand the sticking point on this issue. It is what it is, and to call it either doesn’t change anything whatsoever.

Wonder why you brought up the senior issue? You are right though. I was hired in 1987 and any DAL pilot hired in 1990 is senior to me.

1. The NWA MERGER was a stock swap. The PAA acquistion was a purchase of routes, airplanes and authority (and some employees). No PAA stock swap

2. DAL had maybe 3 routes to NRT a day? I agree our Europe flying wasn't much especially after the KLM JV (we all need to be wary of the growing KLM/AF JV). As a matter of fact, Asia is the only reason any airline wanted to merge with Cobra Airlines!

3. If you think RA wasn't eyeing a merger with DAL since 2000 when he was our CEO you are deluding yourself.

4. Not sure open skies makes 5th freedom dead. Open skies will not allow CAL to pick up an originating Japanese citizen and fly him to China, only to any US city. DAL still has that option. I wouldn't down play that revenue.

I am looking forward to a strong DAL. And as soon as I figure out how to read the new flight plans and this so-called AWABS thingy I'll have fun

And I am sincere in the welcome aboard!
