I know there was some resistance to the idea of having 4 members and I'm sure there was resistance to two candidates who were recently voted out of lec office. I like the final result, they are all relatively junior and young (except 1). No age discrimination here, but the longer career they have left at DAL, the better we will all do!

Factually speaking, they are correct. It is Delta Flight XXXX. Just another way to blur the lines as much as possible.

ACL,

That may be true until the connection carrier screws up in any way, then the back pedaling begins. Whether it is tragic, such as the Colgan crash; unique, such as UAL passengers being abandoned at an out station; or ongoing, such as lost bags, late flights etc. Then the corporate mouth-pieces say "That was not a CAL/UAL/CAL flight - that flight was operated by one of our codeshare partners."

Scoop - Who has yet to make a reservation at the Hilton and at check in be told to walk across the street to my room at the Motel 6.

Scoop,
I do not disagree one bit. In this day and age product matters and the differentiation should exist.

At XJ, the opposite was true in the past. Most senior CAs were making announcements "Mesaba Airlines or Mesaba Aviation Flight #," until a memo was sent out stating that the term "Delta Connection" be used and drop the mention of Mesaba. Nonetheless, even today there are many CAs who refer to XJ flights during PA announcements as "Mesaba Flight."

At any case, you are not fooling anybody anyway. The moment passengers step inside small DCI RJs or ERJs, they know that they are not on Delta Aircraft. Even the smallest Delta mainline jets like DC9s or MD80s are huge compared to CRJ200s, CRJ900s or ERJ 145 or 175s. Not to mention big differences in uniforms of flight crews. You have to be a blind not to notice it.

However, your concern for legal liability is justified, especially for non wholly owned DCIs like SkyWest/ASA or Pinnacle. If they run into accidents flying aircraft in Delta paint and advertised and sold as Delta flight (as they are being done right now as we speak), they will be deemed as representing Delta Airlines and as such will most likely be held legally liable as co-defendants in any future legal actions. Wholly owned regionals are subsidiaries of Delta so if they are brought into a lawsuit, you can be assured Delta will be on the top list of defendants.

you may have thought you heard me say Tarmac but I distinctly remember saying ramp. Can I now have my ten points back before I send the locusts your way.
