Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Not related to any buddy pass or Confirmed for Less. They used my CC # to book BWI-KIN-BWI in first class. The confirmation came to my house because that is the registered address for the CC.
I filed an online report on the Delta Corp Security web page. Res didn't seem to know what Delta would do about it. My guess is they planned to turn the ticket in for $$$. Discover closed my account and is issuing a new card.

Especially if those out in "left field" are going to pay full market price for our piece of the pie (that we are supposedly going to be FORCED to sell against our wishes)!!!
Hey, let's at least make some decent coin out of a slot sale!!
(and avoid direct competition if possible)

I'd love to see AeroMexico (is that allowed?) or WestJet and/or Alaska get the slots over the ones the DOT wnted:
Based on FAA slot holding data, incumbent carriers at DCA that would qualify under these limitations are AirTran and Spirit. At LGA, incumbent carriers that would qualify are AirTran, JetBlue, Southwest,
and Spirit. In addition, of course, any U.S. or Canadian carrier not
currently holding slot interests at the respective airports and
otherwise meeting the criteria would be eligible under our proposal.
We propose that the slot interests be sold by the carriers and that
the proceeds of the sales be collected and retained by the carriers. We
are tentatively selecting this method, rather than one whereby the FAA
would withdraw the slots and reallocate them by lottery (or similar
means) to new entrant and limited incumbent carriers. Through a sale,
the petitioning carriers may maximize the value of the slot interests
as they initially intended. The carriers at LGA hold a possessory slot
interest that may be leased in a secondary market for a period of time,
and at DCA they may sell their slot interests also in the secondary
market. By proposing to allow divestitures of the slot interests
through sales, we are permitting the carriers to monetize their
interests.

Here is a good letter on the DOT site...
As a pilot for Delta Air Lines, I am writing to you concerning DOT’s recent conditional approval of the joint Delta-US Airways slot exchange proposal at LaGuardia and Reagan National airports (Docket FAA-2010-0109).
I am requesting that the DOT approve the joint petition as proposed and without onerous conditions.
The original proposal will allow both carriers to capitalize on their network strengths, strengths developed with investments of time, money and employee labor. The transaction will allow the airlines to maintain existing air service and also add new nonstop service between two of America’s top business markets and small/medium-sized communities across the country. Furthermore, it will provide increased job security and growth opportunities for the carriers’ labor forces. It is a win, win, win proposal.
The recent tentative DOT order granted the joint petition but with onerous conditions that threaten the economic viability of the proposal. Rather than recognizing it’s charge of “ensuring a fast, safe, efficient, accessible and convenient transportation system that meets our vital national interests, . . .” the DOT wishes to intrude into the free market by insisting on an orchestrated and forced divestiture of 33 percent of the slots at Reagan and 16 percent of the slots at LaGuardia, conditions that will likely kill the deal because the inherent economic benefits will no longer exist. It is not the role of government to “create new and additional competition,” as stated in the DOT’s order. As currently approved, the transaction will likely not go through, and the result will be the loss of business opportunities for the carriers; the loss of increased opportunities and choice for consumers; and the loss of job security and growth opportunities for the carriers’ labor forces. This is a lose, lose, lose scenario.
Please grant approval of the Delta-US Airways petition as originally proposed.

And look here, this cat rancher extraordinare Mrs. Louise M Slaughter.
Dear Secretary LaHood and Administrator Babbitt
I am concerned about the proposed transaction between Delta and US Airways, which would increase Delta's concentration at New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and US Airways' concentration at Washington National Airport (DCA). I firmly believe there is a critical need for more competition at these airports, which is why I strongly support your recent decision to require certain slots to be made available to new entrants and limited incumbent carriers.
Let me know if you need help, I am in control of the rules committee and can make stuff up as I go a long and so just let me know which airline you want to have the slots and I'll deem and pass it with a 60% commission to my re-election campaign on whatever they're paying you.
Um... the last sentence may or may not have been said in her letter.

That's right. Super wasn't hired by Delta. He was hired by Northwest who hired on qualifications rather than who he knew. I can't wait to see how you guys treat the Compass pilots that flow up without a degree. When Super started at Northwest, he more than exceeded the competitive minimum requirements at Delta. We are learning really quick that the Northwest contract was pretty equal to the Delta contract overall. Those hourly rates are deceiving.
On another note, I have had mostly positive experiences interacting with Delta crews. The only negative experience I had was when a Delta first officer asked me where all my flight attendants were. I proceeded to tell him that a DC-9-30 only had 2 flights attendants since it only had 100 seats. He said we looked like a DCI crew. I did not take it well and drilled him on scope.

MSP local news just announced that the DOT was holding fast on the slot deal...got the impression it still would not be approved as structured with the announced deal with WestJet, Spirit and Air Tran.
