There are no enemies. There are simply people with different objectives. You don't have to hate them to achieve *your* objectives.

Superdad:

Yes, and it should be out shortly. (as in sooner than later, I do not have a time line, just that we found something agreeable to all parties)

Yea, I heard that werewolves are roaming the woods in Fulton County...

Beyond that, I've actually seen one "hired" sticker, and that was in ATL.

As for the rest, I will not let it spiral in to a political debate that is banned from the TOS. I will only state that the taxes et al will levied incrementally. (Just like a lobster in a pot. Never wise to throw one in to boiling water as they will jump out, just put em in a nice warm pot a water and add heat. The pain is hardly noticeable)
ACL, so was I. The housing debacle can be traced directly to government action. We can have this discussion over a beverage of your choice next time you are in NY.

If you got a score of 29 your app went into the 29 pile. If you got a 28 then you went into that pile. If you had a recommendation then you went to the top of the 28 pile but not in front of the 29's. So recommendations helped but didnt pull you to the top of everyone.

Now this is how it was explained to me so i dont know how accurate it is but the point is, NWA had a picture of whom they were looking for. The people that got called all met specific requirements to get selected. I didnt know a single person at NWA and honestly didnt think i'd get called because of that but thats not how their system worked. None the less, I'm happy to be here!
Are you suggesting that Delta doesn't or didn't have a picture of whom they were looking for? Or that contacts only played a role in getting hired at Delta? I know you're smart enough to not believe that. Both DAL and NWA had very strong hiring teams and processes.

Anyhow, I'll tell you my story of getting hired by NWA. 100% honest and serious.

Of all airlines I had applications with, NWA used the highest multiplication factor when converting military time to civilian time. My package sat idle and never heard from NWA. I decided to phone a friend of a friend (Ernie Taylor). The following morning, the NWA hiring staff called me for an interview. Contacts mattered.

I went to the interview and had several pilots and HR staff tell me to my face that they were very happy that I was there to interview, because NWA wasn't attracting military pilots anymore and that they wanted to get more military pilots in their ranks. (NOT my words, theirs)

I went into the 747-400 simulator cold. I never practiced and had no sim prep. My performance was absolutely aweful. Not only did I turn the wrong way in holding, held at the wrong holdingspeeds (and held below the aircraft's min maneuver speed), never officially captured the ILS not to mention the LOC, I almost crashed the thing (it doesnt flare like a MadDog) with GPWS alerts all the way down final. My performance was extremely unsatisfactory and was not consistent with an instructor / check airman from the military. My sim partner (a regional bubba), flew the sim profile flawlessly and never once deviated from altitude or airspeed. He did a tremendous job in the simulator. He flew awesome.

After the sim, we took a break and my sim partner used the bathroom. I then took the time to tell the sim CA that I was extremely embarrassed by my performance and apologized. He said not to worry and thought that I did a good job. I was very confused.

The point of telling this story is that NWA knew exactly what they were looking for. I was told several times personally that they were looking for military pilots. Even though I dorked up the sim every which way possible, I was offerred employment. I have no proof of the following, but I feel that if a civilian pilot had performed the way I did in the sim, they would not have been hired.

I guess the bottom line is, contacts matter and both companies knew/know what they were looking for.
